The Mountain Hardwear Drifter 2 tent sleeps 2 and has 2 doors for easy and separate exit or entry. Each door has it's own personal storage Vestibule for those wet or extra things. The shockcorded DAC PressFit aluminum frame is a cinch to setup and is very strong, durable and field repairable should the need arise (unlikely). Speedy all clip set up and take down. The full coverage fly with factory taped seams protects the tent and occupants in the worst weather conditions. Lots of mesh throughout the tent body will keep the bugs away and let cooling breezes in on the warmest nights. So confident was Mountain HardWear in the Drifter's capabilities that they put it in a Rain Room for 24 hours. 1200"" of rain later the Drifter 2 emerged with a dry interior and looking good. Welcome to Mountain HardWear tents.

Comments about Mountain HardWear - Drifter 2 - 2 Person Tent:

This tent is hard to beat for the price.
Great mild color, but has visibility strips on guy lines for night vision. Decent weight, but not competitively light. One con: wish it had a vent in the rainfly, I worry about it being stuffy on hot humid nights. Good venting in the tent itself, with a nice privacy panel at the lowe end. This tent is VERY tall, easy to sit up in. Also very long, good for the dog at the feet (or gear!) Big vestivules! Overall, I like this tent alot.

It will be difficult for 2 adults to lie side by side in the tent. My 2 Big Agnes sleeping pads don't even fit in there side by side.

I used this tent on a winter backpacking trip. While it's not 4 season rated, it performed well with a dusting of snow. It set up quickly. I look forward to more use as time allows.

Comments about Mountain HardWear - Drifter 2 - 2 Person Tent:

As a master Maine recreation guide, I use this as a solo tent while guiding canoe trips. It sets up and take down easy, vestibules work well to store shoes and a pack. Be sure to stake out the tent and vestibules well. I replaced tent stakes with better ones. I recommend having two stake loops added to the rain fly so it can be staked out better on the ends. Great tent that has done well on dozens of nights out!

Comments about Mountain HardWear - Drifter 2 - 2 Person Tent:

Have not used in the field yet so can't speak to durability or specific performance attributes, but anticipate no problems. The tent seems well designed and constructed and sets up easily. Double doors and vestibules are a plus. I'm a small guy so interior volume seems adequate. I like that it's a little longer and narrower than comparable tents as I prefer to store gear at my head or feet rather than beside. May not be as bulletproof as some higher end models, but for the money seems like an excellent value.

Love it. Easy to set up: footprint, tent, and fly all connect to poles in freestanding config. Must stake fly for optimum watershed. To clean out simply lift up, turn over, and shake! Great double vestibules and entry both sides for couples. Candle lantern in vestibule adds a few degrees on chilly nights.

Comments about Mountain HardWear - Drifter 2 - 2 Person Tent:

I bought this as a replacement tent for my single wall tent. Always wanted a tent with a fly for better ventilation. A little on the heavy side but great to have in the event one of my girls tags along on a backpack. Tested it out 3/24-25 on a 14 mile backpack trip on the Appalachian Trail (Tar Jacket Ridge). MH claimed it had been tested with 1200" of rain in their rain room, we had about 2 inches over night with no leaks. Goes up really easy with minimal effort. Double vestibule great idea for keeping shoes and pack dry. I have other Mountain Hardwear equipment, first tent from them, highly recommend!

I am debating between the marmot traillight and the mountain hardware drifter 2. The drifter has 2 vestibles while the traillight only has 1 but the drifter is heavier. Do they vent well when zipped up? I can not see vent in the top of either tent. Do you have any suggestions? Do you every carry the black diamond mesa?

Both tents are very good in quality. The deciding factor would be weight.

            A:

There is no specific vent built into the fly. The wall material of both tents has a lot of netting which will allow for ventilation.
