The Big Agnes Lynx Pass 1 tent will sleep 1 person. It has 1 large storage vestibule that can be converted to an awning with trekking poles. The all mesh ceiling keeps bugs out while letting cooling breezes in and allows for the possibility of stargazing at night. The shockcorded hubbed DAC Reverse Combi PressFit aluminum frame is simple to set up and extremely durable and reliable. The innovative frame saves weight by using varying pole diameters where possible and this also creates more usable space in the tent. Of course all the seams are factory sealed and the full coverage fly will protect you from the harshest elements. This is a wonderful tent for just plain old backpacking, an Appalachian Trail trek or just camping out because you know if it is from Big Agnes that you have no worries.

Comments about Big Agnes Lynx Pass 1 - 1 Person Tent:

I bought this because I wanted a one person tent I could use as an adult leader on scout outings and backpacking. My other tent is a 3 person and just not practical for backpacking. This tent had a little more interior room than most other tents I looked at in this category (I am 6'3" - 240 lbs). I fit fine, and my pack fits in the vestibule. I only have one night of camping so far and it didn't disappoint me. Set up was quick and easy (even at night). This is the 3rd BA product I have purchased and their quality is consistent. I originally ordered this from another retailer and after five days of limbo canceled and ordered through campmor. Even though I ordered regular ground shipping, I GOT IT THE NEXT DAY! If anybody from the campmor shipping dept is reading this...sorry for setting the bar so high...but you folks made me a "happy camper". Looking forward to using this tent on the AT next month.

Comments about Big Agnes Lynx Pass 1 - 1 Person Tent:

While the size of this tent and its vestibule is nice, I don't care for the materials. Poly floor (I prefer nylon for tent floors) and with only a 1500mm waterproof coating. Two weak points.
The color is nice and I like the fact that its not all mesh.
Fly vent is nice but would be better if it was higher at the peak. Vestibule door can't be used as a vent when raining (up and down zipper).
Not a bad tent for the money, but there are better options for around the same price. I returned this tent and purchased the North Face Flint 1 tent. Great decision, a better, more durable tent that cost a little less.

Only used this tent once in real conditions. Went hiking on a over nighter, it was raining all day and night. Tent sets up I about five minutes or less depending on your skill level. Kept the rain out just fine and is very light weight. I plan on hiking the A.T. So I hope it will last five months.

Great tent. I had my wife add a loop on the bottom of the fly at the foot end to add a tie down that makes the base of the fly more taut.

I got this to start backpacking again. I am former military but I have no knowledge of leisure backpacking so I am totally naive when it comes to this love of mine.
I got this for an excellent price, it's lightweigh and fits easily in my baltoro 75 backpack, is really easy to assemble and easy to pack up.
I would get the footprint to avoid possible condensations, though. The rain fly is pretty sturdy and holds up well.

Comments about Big Agnes Lynx Pass 1 - 1 Person Tent:

Since 1993 I have been looking for a perfect backpacking tent to use for myself and as a Scout leader. This is my 4th tent in my search. I think I have found my perfect tent. Although I like my confort, I do not want to carry too much weight (less than 30 pounds total including the clothes I am wearing). At just over 4 pounds with manufacturer's ground cloth, it might be considered heavy for a one person tent, but I like the little extra room that it provides. This is great for a Scout leader that has to carry extra "stuff" because he/she is the leader.

When I first set it up in the backyard, my wife took one look and said we both can fit into it and be very cozy. I think that it will be used on our next backpack trip rather than our small 2 person tent.

I have used it once on a Scout outing (in rain) and it was solid and dry. It does not include extra stakes or guy out lines, you should get four extra stakes and reflective line for windy and exposed setup sites. I had them with me and used them although it was not that windy.

I got the ground cloth at the same time, also on sale. I have made ground clothes for past tents using water proofed ripstop nylon, but with the sale price on both it and the tent, it seemed like a good deal. I can say the extra ease of setup using the manufacturer's product is very nice and I definitely recommend getting the ground cloth, too.

A few other pluses to consider: A D-door that is easy to get in and out of; The tent easily fits a 6 footer; And a nice sized vestible.

And be sure to set the low (foot) side towards the wind to protect the door when you get in and out of the vestible. It will help keep the tent dry.

If I find any problems with the tent since I have not used it much, yet, I will update my review.

The packing size shows 23"x6.5. Why is the packing length longer than other similar tents? I am concerned this will take up a lot of space in my pack.

                            A:

A pack size length is determined by pole length. The reason the pack size is long is because the pole sections are longer. You can always pack a tent with the poles out of the stuff sack which would reduce the length to just the fabric of the tent. Then pack the poles else where on or in the pack.

This tent can be used in snow. It has sufficient frame structure to load snow. The only exception to this is real heavy snow loads may not be supported.

                            A:

The Big Agnes Lynx Pass 1 Person Tent does not have to be staked down, because it is a free-standing tent. However, we always recommend staking down any tent that we sell to prevent damage to the tent.
