The SpitFire 2 is a very light tent that sleeps 2 people with some room for gear. A larger version of the successful solo model it features large mesh panels for great ventilation and stargazing opportunities. The large side doors make entry/exit easy. The tent body can be set up with only 2 stakes and the poles attach with clips making set up fast and easy. The SpitFire has more headroom than most tents in its class making it a very easy tent to sit up in.

Comments about Eureka SpitFire 2 - Tent: First time I used the tent it rained very hard and none of my stuff got wet. The floor is lighter material than I had expected so using a ground cloth is mandatory. Was very easy to set up but requires 2 stakes which for me was no biggy but may be for someone else.

Comments about Eureka SpitFire 2 - Tent: I'm very pleased with this tent! I wanted a good lightweight tent without breaking the bank and this fits the bill. Setup is easy and I find it extremely roomy for one person (holds tons of gear that way) and ample for two people (backpacks live outside, though). It needs to be staked to stand up and is in no way freestanding, but that is how it is designed. I wish it had a custom groundcloth but an 8x10 tarp works well and fits in the bag! Very light and easy to carry. Totally pleased with this purchase.

Comments about Eureka SpitFire 2 - Tent: I feel nervous trusting in some reviews of other tents due to the reviews of this tent. I do not believe this tent is nearly as nice as all these people say it is. It has no vestivule so theres no place to store extra gear or most of all, there is no place to put your muddy shoes if its raining. Also, like all tents, condensation does build but i feel like it builds much more in this tent then other backpacking tents ive owned. No matter how tight i pull the straps to stake down the tent its still a tad bit flimsey and wrinky. There is no peep hole in the rain fly which isnt a big deal as much as an inconvinence. The rain fly also is oddly made and is hard to strap down tight, even and flush with the tent. I dont completly knock this tent, it is light and has a 15 inch pack size which is awsome, and is spacious and tall so theres headroom. All in all if your backpacking somewhere warm and dry this is the tent for you, if not id say dont get this tent because theres 50 other teents out there with the same specs but better quality. I think i should have done a bit more research aand i wouldnt feel so disappointed.

Comments about Eureka SpitFire 2 - Tent: Camped for 5 days in the San Juan Mountains. Didn't really experience any heavy elelments such as wind or rain so this tent hasn't truly been tested yet. Maybe I'll have worse luck at Wind River next summer!

Comments about Eureka SpitFire 2 - Tent: The tent is very good on ventilation. It is nice to take the fly off and just have the open mesh. It is lightweight for the size, weighs about the same as some one man tents. They don't make a ground cloth for the 2 man tent which I wish they had. It is a little difficult to take down in the rain without getting the inside wet. Make sure you have enough string with you depending on where you set it up you may have to tie it out.

Comments about Eureka SpitFire 2 - Tent: Hands down this is the best backpacking tent available without spending 3 to 5 times as much. Doors on each side with no vestibule however the ungodly amount of space in this tent makes a vestibule a moot point. Have used in extreme weather with no issues while every other tent in the group failed. Pack Size & Weight is very small. Most who have camped with me end up switching to this tent after being introduced to it. DO NOT get the ultralight version of this tent. The very small weight savings comes at the expense of durability. It is not freestanding - It MUST be staked out to set-up. That is the one and only critisism that I can lay on it but no real tent at this price point is freestanding.

Comments about Eureka SpitFire 2 - Tent: My girlfriend and I backpacked with this tent through Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala for a few months, in areas with lots of available camping. It worked phenomenally: it's lightweight and the pieces can be shared easily between two people to cut the weight down; sets up in a hurry without hassle; there was enough room for us and two 70+ liter packs, and it was just as at home on the beach as it was in the jungle.

Comments about Eureka SpitFire 2 - Tent: I took this tent backpacking over the summer and it didn't add too much weight or take up too much space in my pack. There is enough space on the inside to sit up comfortably and I attached a clothesline to the ceiling with some cord I had, whch worked well. Even though there was condensation build up it was not a big deal during pack up. Overall a great tent.

Is the pack size of 17 x 5 correct? That is smaller than it's 1 person cousin, the Eureka SpitFire 1 with a pack size of 22 x 5.1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
The reason for this is because the pole sections on the 2 are shorter than the pole sections on the 1. This is why the 2 is shorter as a pack size than the 1. However the diameter of the 2 is large than advertised at 6" not 5".Q:
