Comments about Eureka Apex 2 XT - Tent:

This is a great little tent! Just took it out on a three day trip and it performed great! It was very windy but it held up well. It is easy to put together and to take down. All zippers worked well; no issue with them snagging on the tent fabric. The vestibules are awesome! I love being able to have my gear close by and keep it out of the rain or keep dew off my pack. I even liked the burnt orange color. I was afraid it was going to be like the gold color used in the 1970s, the kind of gold that makes you go "yuck"! But it is a nice, warm color. For the money this is a great tent. I would be willing to pay a little more if it came with aluminum poles instead of the fiberglass. It was all the other positive comments about this tent on this Campmor website that really sold me on it. The comments are very helpful.

Comments about Eureka Apex 2 XT - Tent:

I've used this tent to backpack all over, from the Rockies to the Applalachain trail, and have accumulated weeks of nights in it. It is very large for a two person tent, and well built. For the price, you can't beat it. I've never had an issue with it leaking in the rain. Simple to setup and take down, packs away easy. If you are a Boy scout going to Philmount, you can't beat this tent - mine has seen two treks to Philmount and is still in perfect shape.

Comments about Eureka Apex 2 XT - Tent:

I have had this tent for about six months and have used it in temps from 35ºF to 110ºF. It has held up to being strapped to my motorcycle in all kinds of crazy ways, set up in sand, rocks, dirt, over sticks, under trees dropping all kinds of gunk and bugs... still looks brand new.

Plenty of room for me and my gear if I want to stow it all inside. A little cozier for me and my sweetie and our gear but that means two sets of helmets, jackets, pants, gloves, bags, and then there is the usual stuff of clothing and kitchen. Our boots and shoes stay perfectly fine under the vestibule.

There aren't enough stakes to get everything poked down but I have only used them on the vestibules anyway. They are the easy-to-bend stakes so you might want to invest in something sturdier. Even in some seriously windy conditions, the tent hasn't moved once we put all our junk inside.

I have not experienced any condensation issues but I did silicone spray the entire tent when I got it. It sets up in minutes, packs up in a few more minutes, and I am so grateful to tent makers for giving us stuff sacks that don't require a machine to roll the tent into a toothpick for it to fit back in. The bag has plenty of room for a footprint but I would recommend getting the one specifically designed for the Apex 2XT or using a larger tarp. I got one that claimed to fit it but it turned out to be a rectangle so my vestibule area is still on bare ground.

The tent gets pretty hot inside but when it's 106 with no breeze, I guess you have to expect that, right? It is an awesome tent. I don't know how it would hold up to severe winter conditions but it's taken everything I've thrown at it admirably.

Comments about Eureka Apex 2 XT - Tent:

This is a great tent! It is super easy to get setup. The only complaint I have is with the fly. I am a tall guy and the flaps on both sides don't open very wide at the tops, which makes it a little difficult to get in. Don't get me wrong, as I like the general design of things and the vestibule on either side of the tent is nice. Other than that, no complaints at all about this tent!

This is a great 2 person tent. It's very roomy and very comfortable. There are plenty of places in the vestibules to shelter your gear from the elements. The only negative I can say is the heavy weight, which is mostly carried by the fiberglass poles. A set of equivalent aluminum poles will convert this tent from an great car camping tent into an awesome backpacking tent.

Comments about Eureka Apex 2 XT - Tent:

I really love this tent. Easy set up and plenty of room. It's turning out to be one the best tents I've ever had for two people. I use it exclusively for my wife and I when we go on weekend trips. Set up consists of a few clips, two tent poles, and about 2 minutes. We're both about 5'10", and there is plenty of room for the two of us. Adding in packs/gear can get a little crowded.
I will say it's on the heavy side for me. I like extended hiking stays, and this tent is over 6 pounds. If you have the luxury of splitting the weight with another person it's fine, but there are a lot of other tents that are lighter.

Overall I'd say this tent is great. It doesn't leak, holds up to wind well, plenty of space, and extremely well priced. On the downside, the cheap price is in exchange for weight, so if you're doing any long distance hiking, find something lighter.

Comments about Eureka Apex 2 XT - Tent:

Although I didn't purchase this tent from Campmor (I found it essentially unused on [@]), I'm a frequent Campmor shopper and wanted to add my $0.02 to the reviews for this item. The Apex 2 XT is a excellent design for an inexpensive two-person backpacking tent. Perhaps just a tad heavy for a long hike, this tent is an excellent bargain, nonetheless. The way the rain fly and vestibules work together is simply brilliant. The inside of the tent is fairly large for a small two-person tent. My twelve year-old son and I are able to get some gear inside as well as stash quite a bit under the vestibules on either side of the tent.Dual exits mean that no one has to climb over anyone to get up in the middle of the night or early in the morning. What an absolutely brilliant low-cost tent!

The 7'6' measure is the actually floor measure but since the walls of the tent are slanted, teh head space may seem smaller than the stated floor measurement.

Are both doors all mesh or do they have fabric you can zip up to keep the cold out? Same question regarding the windows.
