Q:Is this tent free-standing? Could it be used on a deck, without stakes, in nice weather?
A:This is a free-standing tent, and can be used on a deck without stakes.
Q:If I use this product when it rains will I need a tarp or not?
A:You would not need a tarp if you have the fly assembled with this tent. We would recommend a footprint for the ground material for the tent to extend the lifeline of the Salida.
Q:I'd like to use this for winter camping in Minnesota. How cold can the tent withstand?
A:Since the Kelty Salida 4 -4 Person Tent uses Dac Aluminum poles it will stand very cold weather. It is just a 2 hoop dome so, it will not perform in heavy wind or support heavy snow loads. However if neither of these issues are going to be part of your camping trip, just cold weather the poles would be sufficient to the cold weather the tent will be used in. Make sure you have a good sleeping bag.
Q:How many Stakes does this tent have?
A:Comes with 6 stakes
Q:Do you have a picture of the stakes? or a measurement of how long they are? I want them to see if the MSR ground hog Stakes are similar & will fit into the stake bag.
A:The Kelty Salida 4 -4 Person Tent comes with a basic 6" long aluminum stake. The Kelty No-bendum would be an up grade as well as the MSR.
Q:What is the standing room height?
A:The internal height is 4'9".
Q:This looks very simialr to the Kelty Zodiac 4 that Target sells. The only difference looks to be the rain fly. Am I right?
A:I have the Salida 2 and notced the same thing with the Zodiac 2 at Target. The main difference is the weight of the Salida is significantly less than the Zodiac due to higher quality poles and fabric. The design seems to be nearly identical.
A:The difference between a Salida 4 and a Zodiac 4 is that the Zodiac 4 uses fiberglass poles and has the screen room on the front of the tent, while the Salida uses aluminum poles and has a vestibule but not a screened room. Floor dimensions are pretty similar.
