I've taken this tent on several backpacking trips and it has performed great with no suprises. I have no complaint about the dimensions as they are clearly displayed in the specifications and are as advertised. I've been using it as a roomy solo but it would certainly hold two people who didn't mind being close. On my last overnight I got heavy rain for most of the night and stayed dry as a bone. With a trail weight of about 4 lbs and price under $130 I can highly recoment this tent.

I've owned the tent for about a year now. I've had it on weekend backpacking trip with my daughter and I, on canoe trips of several days, and in hot and cold conditions. The tent preforms well in all conditions is very comfortable. I would highly encourage people to look at this tent for a single individual and can work for two in a pinch.

Extremely quick delivery, didn't expect to receive it in 2 days. My son is camping this weekend and can't wait to hear how the tent works for him. The first night he set it up in the living room and slept in it.

The Kelty Grand Mesa would be tight for two people. But the tent is very accommadating for one person, boots and backpack
Just finsihed half the AT, and had it up almost every night. The fly has to be staked out well to avoid rain soaking the sides of the tent.
Its not an ultralight, but is very durable. I've always have been pleased with Kelty's stuff

I took one on my Philmont experience plus five workup hikes and it worked out great. I still use this tent on scout hikes in Eastern NC and it has been almost three years since we returned from Philmont. I am an adult male about 69" and about 195 lbs;(got to lose some if I want to return) I used this as a one-man tent because I wanted the extra space. My advice is if you want the tent to last purchase the footprint. The only wear so far is in the stuff sack.
My son had the same tent but he shared the load of the tent with another scout. Just purchase another stuff sack so they can put it in a bag because they will just stuff it anywhere in the pack. Yes, we still use his tent on the trail but only when he is not in college or working.

This a replacement tent for one from a another manufacturer that was about three pounds heavier. Have purchased Kelty products in past and always satisfied with performance. Having been a mountaineering and fishing guide for many years and used numerous types of tents, this tent seems to fit the bill for lightweight use below the treeline on mountains. Setup is quick and easy. Canopy is durable and ideal weight for backpacking and bike touring as well a recreational camping. Floor is flimsy and should be seam sealed and recoated with waterproofing on the outside before use. Definitly needs a ground cloth or footprint as thick as a shower curtain for use in forest or coarse soil. If used in mountainous terrain definitly needs stakes and tiedowns and used on the lee side of mountainside.
Vestibule makes for better meshed door cover than storage but with caution because complete closure of door will cause condensation and CO2 build up. Otherwise, a well consturcted tent for the money and one person.

got this as my go-to three season backpacking tent. its first time out I took it on a five day wilderness rafting trip, and it held up very well through the snow, hail, and rain that came through. I stayed dry and comfortable inside. there was a little condensation on the inside of the tent in the morning, but it was not nearly as bad as I've experienced with some other tents.

I do wish that it packed down smaller/weighed a little less, but I haven't found anything else that can compare with the same price. good buy.

This is really a great little tent. It isn't as conveniently portable for backpacking as I was hoping (bulky, somewhat heavy), but you can definitely use it as such if you wish. I haven't had it in the rain yet, but it worked like a charm in a heavy dew in swampy environs (no interior condensation). I also did a ridge-top camp one cold and windy night in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and I was warm and wind-free inside. The rain fly isn't the most precisely designed, but it works and it doesn't impede the entry/exit process whatsoever. Not a two-person tent unless you really like the other occupant...or would like to. Highly recommended as an affordable multi-purpose tent.

No complaints with the quality, however it is really a one person plus gear tent as there is not really enough room for two adults to sleep comfortably unless they are a couple, vestibule is not really large enough for any gear except footwear. Does keep you dry, but condensation does build up. If you try to sleep two inside the tent, one of them will get stepped on if the other has to get out. Great for one person to carry backpacking, but for two, get a bigger tent...
