The Timberline SQ 4XT tent from Eureka sleeps 4 and is a classic tent updated with the latest in frame technology. The 4XT adds a storage vestibule built right onto the front of the tent and a second door for convenience and improved ventilation. The Timberline series has been famous for years as the Scout's tent of choice, Why? Because of ease of set up, durability and reliability. Well Eureka just made it better with a stronger and easier to set up aluminum frame set. The frame is so tough that Eureka began to compare it to the strength and durability of the giant Sequoia tree and the name stuck (SQ). A stronger, thicker ridge pole and the SQ frame's spreader pole not only increase overall frame strength but adds more usable living space to the interior of the tent. Improved ventilation with the addition of 2 generous roof vents mean long humid tent nights will be much more comfortable than in the past. In addition Eureka has lengthened the side of the fly for even more coverage and added vestibule wings to the rear of the tent to protect the 2nd door from weather. Some of the good old parts remain like the use of RipStop materials on the fly for strength and worry free use. This is a classic tent and it just got better.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT Tent: Having used a 4 person Timberline for years, I bought another Timberline when it came time to replace it. I was initially disappointed when I received this tent because it is bigger and heavier than the one it replaced. I must say that I camp and travel mostly by motorcycle, so size and weight matter. That being said, I must say I love this tent. I only use it when I'm going to be somewhere for more than one night as setup and teardown is time consuming, but once it's up it is worth the effort. Plenty of space for 1 or 2 people, good ventilation, fly gives good weather protection, good amount of headroom, built in vestibule adds storage space and helps reduce clutter. Throw away the included stakes and buy some better quality ones. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I don't know about it's overall durability yet. Only time and use under varying conditions will tell that. If you are a casual camper this tent won't dissapoint.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT Tent: The tent is easy to set up and roomy considering of course that this is a 4 man tent that you can't stand up in. I bought it for scout camp outs and it worked well for a week at summer camp. It's a little heavy for backpacking, unless 2 or 3 people are sleeping in 1 tent and sharing the load. I'm extremely satisfied and my son wants my tent now, so I'll probably give him this one and get a new Eureka tent.

Best Uses Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT Tent: Had a Eureka for over 32 years but had to retire it, as it had seen better days. I originally purchased the old 4x in 1980 for use on a motorcycle trip to the west coast with a friend when we go out of the military. It served us well on a nearly one month trip. Then my sons and I entered Boy scouts. Our troop to this day uses Eureka 4x's exclusively for all outings as well as for high adventures to Canoebase and Philmont. One scout can pitch an older style Eureka 4x on their own w/o help. I purchased this one to use at an upcoming international camporee and very pleased with its usual quality and spaciousness. Again, the previous models could easily be setup by one person. This new 4x model I find takes 2 people to setup. My sons who are Eagle Scouts helped me with the first time setup of this when I received it. They are well adept to pitching a 4x tent individually and agreed that this new model was less user friendly in setup. Plus all of us debated what was the front vs back of the rain fly, as it does not clearly delineate. Regardless, it's still a beautiful tent and would not purchase any other brand.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT Tent: Replaced my old Timberline 4 from the '80's. This tent is super well built. First time out I was caught in a big 12 hour thunderstorm with 30+ mph winds. Not one problem the whole times. I was really surprised at how much better it was than my old one. (which I knew was tough)I'm very happy with this tent.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT Tent: I have an old 4 man Timberline that's over 20years old. This is a big improvement from the older models. The factory seam seal eliminates the yearly resealing. The heavier poles will help keep the frame from bending,BUT,if you even suspect it might get windy while using any A frame tent, make sure you use all of the guy out points. Those big flat sides can put a huge load on the frame, and the poles at the corners Will twist and bend if enough load is applied.Overall an excellent casual use tent, just leave it home during the winter!!

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT Tent: I was given a Eureka timberline when I was a youth in scouts. That 2 man version has lasted nearly 30yrs. This 4 man version is just as sturdy and lighter weight. With my two sons and myself, we had plenty of room. I like the upgrade/redesign of the built in vestibule and back door. Quality tent from a quality company!

Q:
The answer for the question can you get a vestibule (perferrable 2) is confusing. The first answer seems to indicate that it comes with the tent and that it only fits over one door opening. The second one indicates that it is a different part number. Can you clear this up please.2 answers
A:
I have the SQ4XT tent there is a vestibule on one side sewn to the rain fly. how ever there is also an additional one available from eureka and it works great. the only downfall is that the additional one is a little bit smaller than the sewn in version.A:

Hi, Does the front vestibule close completely? All of the photos show it open on one side. Thanks!2 answers
A:
Yes it does and it also holds up very well in rain and Thunder storms. I have had my tent up int 50+ mph winds and the pointed the vestibule into the wind and it worked great as a "wedge"/ wind break. it closes completely and is one of my favorite parts of this tent set up.A:
The vestibule can close completely, as all vestibules do.Q:
How well does the floor hold up in heavy rain? Does it leak?1 answer
A:
The tent floor is waterproof. It should not leak....always recommended to be used with a groundcloth. Reapplication of waterproof and seam sealing would be required after a year or two of heavy use.Q:
Does this tent have windows that roll up on the sides or just a screened wall?1 answer
A:
The inside mesh walls do not have internal covers.Q:
I wandering eureca timberline SQ4XT tent is for three season or four season? also what is different 3season and 4season?1 answer
A:
The SQ4XT is a 3.5 season tent so it will be good for cold conditions but not recommended for snow. A 4 season tent is made with a stronger frame to be able to hold up under the weight of snow fall.| CAPACITY | 4 |
