No this is a tent for the harshest winter conditions or for camps in high wind swept regions. It features 2 doors and 2 storage vestibules. The DAC aluminum frame is as strong and as a stable as a tent frame can be. The full coverage fly surrounds the tent and and will keep you dry. The heavy duty bathtub floor has an unrivaled 10,000mm polyurethane coating and will remain strong and durable for the life of the tent. Roof vents combine with the front and back door to provide ample ventilation possibilities. And multiple storage pockets abound in the interior for extra storage and organization within the tent.

Comments about The North Face Mountain 25 Tent:

Took the tent out for a test drive at the local county park. Storm scared everybody else away, including a few top-tier brands, and mine barely blinked. Stayed dry. Tent poles barely moved.
I love all the little details too, glow-in-the-dark zipper pulls and reflective guy lines are features I won't ever go camping without. They're too useful. I also found velcro attachments to (further) secure rainfly to poles. These velcro straps are color-coded too. Other manufacturers have color coded tent set-up but this was by far the best. Anybody who sets up this tent once (or watches somebody do it) can set it up in under five minutes. You're gonna want the (sold-separately) footprint which maintains color coding details and is light and sturdy.
I also found the venting (with the rainfly up and tightened down as much as it would go) worked scary-well. It was like voodoo.
I camped solo but if you're with a buddy, you'll both fit comfortably, less comfortably if you both bring a lot of gear. The vestibule in the front is big enough for a man to crouch in. There wouldn't be any room for a third person.
If I were to go backpacking, I'd do the light carry option with the included footprint. Rainfly's sturdy and big enough to keep you covered from all but the most torrential downpour. It's still a heavy backpacking tent but I'd save pounds elsewhere.

Bottom line: you only need one tent for year round camping when you buy this one.

I have not been compensated in any way for this review.

Comments about The North Face Mountain 25 Tent:

I am really happy with this tent (so far), after doing a long search on the web and reading tons of reviews I went ahead and bought this tent because it was apparently the best cost-benefit product, I searched in other websites besides Campmor, but this one offered the best price and have to say, they really took care about the shipping and delivery, they even called me to verify the address.

I haven't have the opportunity to take this tent to serious camping with serious weather, but I can tell that the tent is really easy to set up, even for a single person, it is sturdy and have a lot of space, the only thing is that the back vestibule is really small, not big enough for fitting the backpack and stuff of one person, perhaps only at most for keeping the boots or small things.

Comments about The North Face Mountain 25 Tent:

Finally got this tent after seeing my friends enjoying theirs so much. They had braved the winds last summer at 10,000' at the base of Mt. Coness(Northern Sierras), while I struggled a bit with my 3-season. Last week I pitched it on the snow on Mt. San Jacinto and it withstood the 30mph+ winds no problem. Keep in mind that it is easier to get your tiedowns out of the snow if they are tied to sticks - not basketball-sized granite boulders!!

I used this tent on a winter overnight in the White Mtns in NH. Temp: 10 deg, wind 65 mph. It set up in minutes, kept us comfortable warm all night w/o a wisp of wind. Plenty of storage pockets and room to cook in the vestibule. Great tent !

Comments about The North Face Mountain 25 Tent:

Use this tent for wilderness snow camping. It does not seem to vent very well in very cold weather, but has large ridge vents . Works best if you leave door to vestibule partially open at top. It also is quite small for two adults even with gear in vestibule. It is perfect for myself and 80# lab. It is extremely sturdy and noticeably warmer than outdoor temp. It is to heavy for packing but great in sled or canoe. I would recommend if you want a well built and bullet proof winter storm tent.

Yes this is way too heavy for the Colorado Trail in July. For a winter trip on the Colorado trail this may be appropriate, but not the summer. You may want to look instead at Kelty Outfitter Pro 2 Tent

                  A:

This is an expedition style tent for the harshest of weather. It will protect from snow and wind but a tent alone is not what keeps you warm. The tent is a protectant from outside elements. The sleeping bag and sleeping mat are what you depend on to keep you warm. Look for a bag appropriately rated for the temps you will be experiencing and a mat that has the proper R-value for the same temps.
