Comments about Eureka Headquarters Tent with 2 Doors & 2 Rooms:

My wife and I purchased this tent in the spring of 2011 and we have used it on five car camping trips this summer and fall for a total of 28 nights. We are very happy with it. We have not had any problems with leaks during rainstorms some being heavy downpours. The floor has always been dry. We have felt very secure in high wind conditions; I have roped down the tent as recommended in the instructions. The fly works well over the tent top and its awnings over both doors and the end windows keeps rain drops off the insect screens. Our only warning to others considering this tent is the set-up needs to be TWO people. One person is needed to manage the spider, being careful that each pole is fully seated in a hole and the poles are not putting side tension on the spider that could cause it to break, and the other person is needed to handle each pole, handing it to the spider managing person, and then inserting an end into a pin on the tent corner. Until all four poles are seated in the spider and pinned in the corners the spider contraption is very unwieldy and the person managing this part of the operation can quickly feel overwhelmed. The fly can be tricky to get in place without wrinkles. Once the tent is set up it is a truly wonderful thing.

Comments about Eureka Headquarters Tent with 2 Doors & 2 Rooms:

We went from a RV and downsized back to a tent so we looked for a tent that would be big enough to stand up in and have room to move a around even with an air bed in it. This tent fit our needs with extra space for storage, it's not an RV but it fit our needs.

        Headquarters and the hub.

Comments about Eureka Headquarters Tent with 2 Doors & 2 Rooms:

I have owned the Headquarters for many years now. I spend a average of 14 nights per year in this tent.

Pros: Nice and roomy, upright walls give you useable space. Nice head room for standing up do dress.

Cons: The Hub - Major design error. While the hub does away with full length poles, it requires a lot of effort to keep the poles in the hub while erecting the tent. Although, I'm capable of setting this tent up by myself, I look like a dog chasing it's tail, running around replacing the pole ends into the hub as I raise the tent up.

The tent came apart last week. A day of gusting winds shook a pole out of the hub and then ripped a large hole into the rain fly. (guy ropes from the fly to the ground where in use then)

That night with out a fly, the wind kept pulling the poles out of the hub until the hub it's self broke, collapsing the tent on us.

Comments about Eureka Headquarters Tent with 2 Doors & 2 Rooms:

I have used this tent 3 times a year for 9 or 10 years. One week at the beach, one week in the mountains, and 2-5 day wilderness trips with school children. It has never leaked a drop, been a problem in high winds, and the children are able to set it up. The size is perfect for 2 adults, 2 children, but it will sleep 6 children + gear on school trips. this tent has seen a lot of hard wear and remains in good condition. My older teens now borrow it for overnights and I worry it may fail because of it's age, so I have ordered another.

Three season refers to Spring, Summer, FAll. The tent is not strong enough to hold up to the weight of snow.

Can the mesh roof vent(s) be zipped shut like the Eureka Equinox? On very cold nights one doesn't want electric heat escaping through the ceiling. Is there a zippered porthole for extension cord?

                    A:

The Eureka Headquarters Tent with 2 Doors & 2 Rooms does not have a roof vent. The windows are hooded so you can open the flaps for ventilation. If you want to completely close the flaps then there would be no netting in the roof to close.

What does bath tub floor mean in the description of the Eureka Headquarters Tents with 2 doors and 2 rooms mean? Is the flooring like tarp material?

                    A:

A bathtub floor is when the floor material wraps up the wall to meet the wall material. This eliminates a ground level seam that could leak water. Floor Material 4 oz. Oxford Nylon w/ 1200mm coating. 2 doors on either side of the tent and 2 windows included in the doors and 2 windows on the other 2 sides of the tent. All windows have storm flaps that can zip into to close the tent off from wind and wind driven rain.

                  • A:

Bath tub means the floor material, which is waterproof nylon (not tarp), is sewn 6 inches off the ground to the wall material, which is not waterproof. All seams are factory sealed creating a dry "bath tub" when it rains. All well made tents have a bath tub floor. This tent has 2 doors diagonaly opposing one another for entry exit convience and there is a divider(that I never use), creating 2 rooms that clips on the center line between the 2 doors that is removable. Eureka are one of the best made tents on the market.
