Comments about Eureka Timberline Outfitter 4 Tent:

I was so impressed with this tent after spending 48 hours in hard rain in Quetico, Canada- that bought it. Quetico is Canada side of Boundry Waters- and when it rains- it gets cold. We did not get wet- and it was monsoon. My Dad had a down sleeping bag, and I was really getting worried after first 24 hours. In my experience- most tents get you wet after 18 hours of steady rain- but this was exception. The tent is not light, but few 4 person tents are.

Comments about Eureka Timberline Outfitter 4 Tent:

The tent is a quality A-frame style tent with sturdy poles but the junction tube is a piece of weak plastic. Extremely disappointed and when I contacted Eureka, they needed me to send it in (on my dime) and then pay for replacement tubes if they felt I wasn't utilizing them properly. These tents are supposed to withstand outfitter use. Not a chance with these junction tubes.

Comments about Eureka Timberline Outfitter 4 Tent:

I struggled for a while with which tent to buy for myself and my wife. We typically take weekend car-camping trips. I occasionally do some backpacking with friends too. I finally decided not to try to kill two birds with one stone, which was a wise decision I think. I settled on the Timberline for my wife and I and it meets our needs perfectly. It is very easy to set up and is big enough inside for a queen size air mattress. The fly is easy to put on, although at first it was not clear to me how the two short poles attached to extend the fly outward over the door/window. The tent gets good ventilation even with the fly on, with front and back windows that create a nice breeze. I bought the Timberline 4 Outfitter, which seems to be a Campmor exclusive, because I was advised that it was more durable than the new Timberline SQ line. I can't speak to the accuracy of that statement, but I am very happy with the tent. I would say that the footprint I bought was not a good purchase. It was quite expensive, and actually doesn't fit perfectly. I would rather have saved $30 and bought a tarp. Also, I purchased the vestibule, but have yet to unpack it. I'm not sure I really needed it, but maybe it will come in handy someday if the weather starts to look like rain. If I had it to do over again, I would probably not buy it. The tent on its own is great, and would have been a much better bargain on its own. Also, on a personal note, I love the color and A-frame style of the tent, which gives me a nostalgic, woodsy feeling. We returned a huge REI tent, because we preferred this one.

Boy Scout not the gentalist with equipment, but this tents held up great. They were used once a month for 15 years great job.

I am the quartermaster of my son's boy scout troop and we have been using this model tent since 1994 when the troop was first formed. We have camped in every weather condition that mother nature could possibly dish out. We camp one to two times a month and don't cancel due to weather. You can imagine what kind of abuse these tents have taken over the years. Yes, we have had to do some minor patching through the years, but I think that's normal considering the kids in our troop range from ages 10 to 18. I think that says a lot for this product. I hope they don't stop manufacturing this product!!

Our Boy Scout Troop bought 15 of these tents in 1995 after a recommendation from our Boundary Waters Outfitter. We have been totally satisfied. We are now going to begin another round of purchasing the same tents and retiring our 1995 tents. They were heavily used for camping every month year round plus yearly week long summer camps and trips into the Boundary Waters Wilderness. These tents always kept us dry even in the biggest storms.

I am a 74 year old woman who camps alone and I found this tent to be the easiest to set up. It also offers me the warmth I like.

I enjoy the middle height, for I like to camp in the fall and stay inside a tent to read and write more than I would in the summer and this tent has enough height and space to enjoy sitting around inside.

Comments about Eureka Timberline Outfitter 4 Tent:

I purchased this tent on the recommendation of a friend who has used the same model for the over ten years and is completely satisfied. He uses about 3 weeks per year in wooded areas. He seam-sealed only once after 8 years because he "felt it was time" not because of leaks. I used for two consecutive nights shortly after receiving. I camped in a wooded area in northern Illinois and there was a steady rain. A few drops of water did leak in by the back of the tent where the label is stitched to the higher floor seam. A small rag contained the leak. A small amount of seam-sealer fixed the problem. There was difficulty in connecting the four snaps (very stiff) on the underside of the fly to the rings on side of the tent. A small long-nose plier solved this problem and now clips on easily. There are several small blemishes in the door and window netting that do not appear to cause any problems. Primarily bought this tent for camping in the Boundary Waters in northeastern Minnesota where we remain at one campsite for 5 days. This past year it rained for 27 straight hours and no leaks. Highly recommend using with the vestibule and ground cover.

This cot would fit inside the Timberline Outfitter 4. Campmor does not have the vestibule in stock at this time. Contact Eureka at 1-800-572-8822 in order to purchase one.

I'm trying to determine the specific advantages of this Outfitter 4 vs the new SQ Outfitter 4. Supposedly, the SQ has a stronger frame? Although it sounds ridiculous, I prefer the primary green shade of the tent fabric of this tent to the teal color of the SQ. But aside from that silly color preference, is there a technical reason why this tent is still in enough demand that Campmor has specially commissioned more of them to be made? Is this tent still preferable to the SQ, and if so, why? Thanks.

The opinion of the Campmor tent department is that the older outfitter is a stronger tent. It has stronger material and a simpler frame.

Is this tent made by Eureka or is it similar to the Eureka discontinued model but made by another manufacturer for Campmor? Thanks.

Eureka has discontinued their Timberline Outfitter series and standard Timberline's to make room for their new SQ series. Campmor will be having certain styles made especially for us, and we will always have the parts as well!
