The Spitfire is a very light tent that sleeps 1 person with room for gear and a nicely sized vestibule for extra storage space. It features large mesh panels for great ventilation and stargazing opportunities. The large side door makes entry/exit easy and opens to the spacious vestibule. The tent body can be set up with only 2 stakes and the poles attach with clips making set up fast and easy. The SpitFire has more headroom than most tents in its class making it a very easy tent to sit up in.

Comments about Eureka Spitfire Tent: I have another 1 person tent which I paid 2x as much for. This one is a better bargin for the price. Easy set up. Rained the first night and it was dry inside. Pack size is only 1 to 2 inches longer then the Eureka Solitar with the same diameter. Really impressed with the product. Was good for three nights below the rim of the Grand Canyon

Comments about Eureka Spitfire Tent: For the price, this tent is pretty nice. I got it because I am a mostly solo backpacker looking to lose some weight from my pack and head more towards lightweight backpacking, and this tent seemed at the right weight and price range. It's pretty simple to set up, keeps water out when it's raining, and it's not very hard to find a good campsite because of the tiny footprint of the tent. The only thing I don't really like is that the vesibule is extremely small, and a lot of times I don't bother to put anything besides my boots in there, let alone my whole pack. Alas, I think thats' just the way it might be for solo tents, so it's not really a huge deal. As far as room inside the tent goes, it's pretty comfy for me. I'm 5'11", and I have plenty of room to sleep and lay various small gear items around the tent (flashlight, extra layers, books, etc)

Comments about Eureka Spitfire Tent: I'm both a minimalist (when I backpack) and comfort driven, so I have more than one tent. I have used this while hiking the AT in preparation for a big backpacking trip next summer and it works fine. It's snug and lightweight and not meant for hanging out in. It's just supposed to keep you protected while you backpack and it does a fine job of that.

Comments about Eureka Spitfire Tent: I have used this tent in 0 degree weather with a 20+ wind and it held beter then I expected. For anyone winter camping we know there is no staking so bags filled with snow ([@] bags) work well for stakes. Very water proof a little condisation if not vented enough. I use this tent from backpacking, kayaking and snowshoeing and am still here to type this. BTW the aluminum poles are much stonger then wimpy car camping fiberglass. That came in handy when we got 14inches of snow as seen in pic. from my sons tent,, WIXARD1960

Comments about Eureka Spitfire Tent: I used it overnight in the pouring rain. An occassional drip entered the open vent but really couldn't complain. I could have probably gotten the fly a bit tighter and eliminated all but the sideways rain entering. Nice little tent.

Comments about Eureka Spitfire Tent: I packed it in to the Grand Canyon. It was very easy to set up and get into, and held up fine in a stiff wind. Good head room inside and floor space for all the items I needed through the night. I wish I had left some stakes at home for less weight.

Comments about Eureka Spitfire Tent: Used this tent over the weekend camping with the family. This tent was lighter than I expected it to be. The tent and the fly was really easy to set up. The only complant I have is that the vestibule area is to small for your pack.

Comments about Eureka Spitfire Tent: For the super low price and low weight you simply can't beat it.

Comments about Eureka Spitfire Tent: Easy to setup. I haven't been out on a trip with it yet, but set it up in my backyard to test it. Seems sturdy enough. The floor material is fairly thin so ground sheet is needed in my opinion. Fly fits on quite well. Can't wait to take it on a trip and really test the thing!

Which is the best footprint to use for the spitfire tent?1 answer
A:
http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___21732Q:
Being non-self-standing, this tent clearly relies completely on the two end stakes to stay erect and taut in foul weather. Of the many types of stakes available, which would you recommend to use in rocky, rooty ground, such as might be encountered in the White Mountains?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
A skewer stakes is a good choice. This is because they are thinner to penetrate soils with a lot of rock and roots. A good choice is the Kelty No-Bendium II Gold Stake 6 - PackQ:
An answer stated that the Pkg Wt is the weight of "all the components". What does that mean? Aren't all the components the tent, fly, and poles?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
The total weight of all the components includes the tent, fly, poles, and stakes.Q:
Is this the 2011 or 2009 model?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
2011Q:
Is the bottom of the tent waterproof or do I need to purchase the additional polyester footprint?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Though the floor is water proof and has taped seams, it is advisable to use a footprint to protect the floor and to channel water under the floor protector and way from the floor.Q:
Will the Spitfire 1 accomodate a large sleeping pad (25"x77") or only the regular size?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
A 77" sleeping pad will fit length wise, however since the spitfire narrows at the feet this will make a 25" wide pad roll up the sides and put pressure on the tent wall. Condensation and leaking can result.Q:
