We've been buying these water bottles for over 15 years. The closed dome lid to keep mough piece clean is number one reason. Then we fell for them overall. We have a supply of the original 22 ounce sizes as well. The only negative is the last batch of newbies is two of the mouth pieces shut off instead of letting us close it ourselves with our mough or finger. This means it'll close before the air has time to refill the space water was taken from. And it means you have to attempt to keep it open while you drink. Fine if you are in a car but not so great when riding a bike. I just switch out these bad tops and slip them down to the bottom of our container that holds the lids for these and our travel thermos bottles. We store open in cabinet. Out of a dozen or so bottles over an equal amount of time we have only had one dome break off after dropping it. We lost one bottle hiking. And otherwise no other problems. The key to no leaking on all of these new and old is to tighten the lid initially upon filling. Wait a little while and tighten again..usually somehow there is a relaxation period but the retightening seems to fix the problem with potential leaking. Also we'll check it now and again when we use them to make sure the lid stays tight and hasn't worked open. That's all there is to it. We carry them in the car and on hikes and backpacking and on the water etc. Everywhere...we go they go. I used to do field research and they definitely stayed with me which is how we found these. Had to keep the pollen off my water bottles...this so works.

I have always used the soft bottle Nalgene brand bottles and this is the first time that I can say they have problems. They do not seal well at the cap where it threads onto he bottle. I called Nalgene about this and they sent me a replacement, but the replacement leaked as well. My older bottles are still useable, but I wanted more and newer bottles without the BPA issues. Maybe they cannot solve both of them at the same time. This is very dissappointing to me as a scoutmaster as I have always recommended these to my scouts, so we use alot of these. The hard bottles are still okay, bt I cannot afford tohave soft bottles leak in a pack when backpacking and hiking which I do alot of.

i use these all the time. bikeing hikeing, kayaking. and i also keep one in the van most of the time. no paying for bottled water for me

This is the only water bottle that I have purchased over the years....I have a collection. I find them most useful for keeping in my vehicles at at various locations throughout my home. I find that I drink more water if I have them stationed in many convenient locations. What I like best about this bottle is that it has the flip top mouth piece protector so that it stays clean...even in my car and van with my dogs jumping all over them.
