Great for Boy Scouts to light propane stoves.
In our Boy Scout troop, the boys need to set up and light the stoves for cooking. We used to use welding sparkers, but they were too hard to operate and put little hands too close to the flames. These are easy to operate and keep hands a safe distance from the flames.
They're not for white gas or kerosene, but they work great for propane or butane. Be careful to keep them dry, or their spark is reduced until they dry out.

Our original (over 20 years old)has never failed. We are getting a second to have on hand. To use it, place the tip up against the gas source (on a burner for example). It never fails. If you have a pot on the burner, move it before igniting. It needs some air. Perfect for camping equipment that uses a fuel source. Works in all weather conditions.

Works great except when in wind because the gas from my camping stove wasn't concentrated enough to light the burner. Other than that I love it!!

Does generate a spark but not enough of one to light either an alcohol stove or a gas stove. Don't know what else you'd light with it. Returned it.

I was never able to get my alcohol burning stove to light with the piezo lighter.
