Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 10 ft. Versatile Nylon Tarp: This trail tarp is a must-have for backpackers. It can be pitched in dozens of configurations from breezy lean-to to tight storm shelter, one-tree, two trees, and even no trees, with a hiking staff or treking poles. I have used mine in all climes and places and in every kind of weather, including a Pacific typhoon.

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 10 ft. Versatile Nylon Tarp: I purchased this tarp more than 20 years ago. I have used it countless times as a dining fly, a ground shelter, and a hammock fly. I have carried it on dozens of canoe and backpacking trips.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 10 ft. Versatile Nylon Tarp: Tabs are lame and I haven't even used it yet and I have no faith in them holding up...I'm crafty enough it's a relatively easy fix, I suggested this as a gift, kinda understanding it's shortcomings per other reviews and thought the price point would be a trade off compared to some other more expensive nylon tarps out there, seeing the work I'll be putting into it to make it suitable in the applications I had planned...I mighta been wrong. If you want a platform to work from to make a good tarp set up for shelter/hammock etc...it's a starting point. But that's about it, without some mods and ssome work, you are gonna be disappointed...but the tarp itself seems well made enough for the type and it's price point.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 10 ft. Versatile Nylon Tarp: recommendation with added strengthening of the ties and addition of grommets on outer tabs.

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 10 ft. Versatile Nylon Tarp: I've used a 10 x 10 tarp tent for about 30 years; lost my tent and purchased this one. The ties are poorly stitched and would not hold up under wind or heavy use. I purchased a grommet kit (under $5) and replaced all the edge ties with grommets; I next over-stitched the 5 central ties using dental floss and applied a water sealer over them. It is now in great shape and ready for my next trip.

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 10 ft. Versatile Nylon Tarp: I bought this tarp to complete a hammock setup. I've seen good reviews of it on Hammock Forums, but these were written prior to the redesign which removed the standard guy points and implemented 21 poorly-sewn, flimsy, 6" ribbons along the edge, center seam, and on the actual hammock body.

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 10 ft. Versatile Nylon Tarp: My scoutmaster used one of these over 20 years ago [...]. No where on the internet can you find this kind of multi-use tarp but Campmor! Can't wait to show my cub scout how it can be used.

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 10 ft. Versatile Nylon Tarp: Will be replacing tie downs with webbing. A tie down ripped off in a moderate wind on a canoe trip in the boundary waters. Had all tie downs being used. Typical of most tie downs on moderately priced tarps. Good for the price.I figure an extra $10 in materials and my time with the sewing machine I will have a great tarp!

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 10 ft. Versatile Nylon Tarp: At the last minute brought this on our backpacking trip. As it started to rain in the midst of cooking dinner, we quickly put this up and it kept the food and the 5 of us dry. Another reviewer said grommets would have been helpful, so I added about eight 3/8" grommets. They were extremely helpful. Before using this fly again, I will add more as soon as I figure out how to add them to the tapes in the middle of the fly. We will always take this fly with us again.
