Comments about Coghlan's Folding Sierra Saw:

This saw is something to be carefull of. When closed, it can, and will, open on it's own if not secured in a confined mannor. This means that it has the possiablity of either cutting you or damaging your equipment. This is something you do not want to happen when you are out in the field.

Comments about Coghlan's Folding Sierra Saw:

Got this as a pack stuffer gift. I've owned these saws for years. Even though the handle is plastic, it is tough. The blade cuts through 2" - 4" branches with surprising ease.

Comments about Coghlan's Folding Sierra Saw:

When I opened the saw, it surprised me that the teeth were so big. I used this for a home-project - shortening a wooden rod, and it cut fast, but not very pretty, and it was a bit hard to get the groove started in one place.
Great for camping and the odd branch, if it doesn't have to be pretty, but I do not recommend it for neat, smooth cuts (like in tree-pruning or home projects.)

Comments about Coghlan's Folding Sierra Saw:

I used it for sawing some firewood to test it out and it held up pretty well. I would suggest it for light camping or garden use. If your next saw purchase is something you're going to be using a lot, a bow saw may provide better comfort and reliability.

Comments about Coghlan's Folding Sierra Saw:

I've used these saws for years for cutting firewood, cutting trail, cutting bone on game animals, light carpentry, pruning around the yard, etc. They are awesome. Sharp, lightweight. Can carry in pants cargo pocket or side pocket. Cons include that they dont last forever and are esentially disposable so get a replacement blade or 2. They only cut on the pull stroke and if they bind on the push stroke the blade can bend or break. They will cut the [*] out of you if you are not careful.Cons not withstanding this is the best little saw for the $.

Comments about Coghlan's Folding Sierra Saw:

It is great for a cheap saw, at first it will do its job much better than a hatchet would. But after several cuts the blade becomes weak and dull.

Comments about Coghlan's Folding Sierra Saw:

          • Used for gathering firewood, clearing campsite
          • Takes care of vines and brambles as easily as pruning shears
          • Cuts soft wood (i.e. pine) easily; hardwood requires more elbow grease
          • Handles thicker logs/branches than expected, but get the larger size for anything over 5" diameter
          • Light and compact, but too big for backpacking
          • Blade locks firmly when extended but not when folded, so could damage items it is packed with if not secured w/ rubber band or string
