Used this to stitch up some 2" webbing to make a weight belt harness for scuba diving. Worked very well and I was able to punch through two layers of heavy 2" webbing without too much difficulty. Overall the job was easy than I expected. Plan to make a second one this weekend.

Comments about Stewart Mfg. Co. Speedy Stitcher:

When I lost a tent pin after the stiching came out of the webbing, I was looking for a tool that would got through the thick material. This did the job. The needle went through the webbing like butter. Next job to do, unfortunatly, is to add some extra inches to the hipbelt on my daypack.

This the standard leather repair sewing awl everyone should own. It works, it is easy to learn how to use, it works, it is a lifetime purchase, it is the go to repair tool for leather, canvas or any other sturdy material. It is great for sewing together basic leather-work.

I've used this sewing awl since I was a kid. I first used my Grandpa's, then my Dad's now I own one. It is the same sewing awl throughout the years. I'm glad at least one company has maintained their quality since their beginning. This is a must have item for anyone. Repairing or new projects, this sewing awl is tough and can handle most leather 1/4 inch or less and any tarp or sail material.

I see that you list the #8 straight needle as 3 inches long and the #8 curve as 2.5 inches long.

I want to know how far the #8 straight needle sticks out. I need it to go through two 10mm wide ropes to stitch them together side by side. This would require a needle that sticks out from the stitcher at least 3/4 of an inch.

                                  Thanks
