Comments about Aquaseal Map Seal Waterproofing for Maps: I don't use a GPS, prefer paper maps. I had used this product years ago on topo maps and looked for it for some recently acquired maps. I plan on tracing a nearby river and bought 8 maps. Instructions state one bottle will coat both sides of 6-8 topos but I'm having a hard time spreading the liquid thin enough to cover that many. I'll probably be able to coat 5-6 with one bottle. Good thing I ordered 2 bottles!

Pros

Comments about Aquaseal Map Seal Waterproofing for Maps: I used this on an inexpensive paper map to check it out & it passed with flying colors(wish my camp spray waterproofed as well on clothing). You must follow directions, brush in well,be patient & your maps will last in the rain.

Comments about Aquaseal Map Seal Waterproofing for Maps: I soaked a map with this product of the Pinhoti Trail / Mt. Cheaha because it was a basic paper. I knew it would get wet from my perspiration during those typical HOT / HUMID days on the trail. It worked...I kept checking and checking and checking to see if there were any wet spots on it since I carry the map in my cargo pockets for quick access. Success! no wet spots...

Comments about Aquaseal Map Seal Waterproofing for Maps: If you use maps, you will find that this product will extend the life of them tremendously. I have used Map Seal often over the last 15 years and still have maps after ten years that have been folded and refolded and are still usable. Application can be a little tricky but worth the effort. Pinning the map to a large piece of cardboard can help reduce wrinkling and the fact that they are water-proofed is a real plus. I prefer a good map to a GPS and while motorcycle touring I don't have to worry about a map not lasting for an entire trip. (Coast to Coast). Here are a couple of pics of a map, circa 1997-98, treated both sides, and used often

Comments about Aquaseal Map Seal Waterproofing for Maps: Product does not work as described and you would be better off having the maps laminated. I was left with aeronautical sectionals that were wrinkled as the solution dried and it caused some ink to run makeing it illegible.

Q:
How much area will the Aquaseal cover. Thanks1 answer
A:
A standard 1:125000 topo map is 22" x 27". Additionally the proper application is 2 coats. For 7 maps coated 2x times the coverage would be 2079 square inches, or 173.25 sq feet.
