Comments about Sport Brella XL 9FT Portable Sun & Shade Umbrella: We have an 8' Sportbrella. When the 9' came out, we immediately bought it without thinking. That's how good it is!! Now we are buying another 9' to have on hand (if you find something you really like, buy 2 for they will be discontinued shortly). This umbrella works great for whitewater rafting and converts to a beach cabana in seconds when you get to camp. The side flaps make it so stable on the raft that we can have our umbrella up long after the others have taken theirs down in the wind. The side vents let the air in (or out in the wind) yet still provide shade. Can't believe how beefy the pole and frame is. Spike end for sand, reverse it and you have a taper perfect for mounting to your raft. We almost spent 5 times as much on a Bimini top for our raft, yet this works great and we can use it for so many other activities as well!!! Brilliant product!!! Pros

We used rocks instead to tie to and this was much better. It did well tied to my raft when we were at camp riverside to give shade to my cooler on very hot days. Pros

When the Sport-brella arrived from Campmor, we put them up side by side. The Sport-brella is a much better product in a lovely light blue (the warehouse club only had red or navy). The Sport-brella is well worth the money as it is sturdier. It will sit on the ground without being stakes but it would not take much of a breeze to move it so we would advise either staking it or using sand bags to keep it in place to avoid the possibility of it injuring someone.Answered on 6/12/2012 by Betty

This umbrella is meant to be pitched at an angle as you see in the picture with the corners staked down. It is not meant to stand perpendicular and then angle the top off 90 degrees.Answered on 8/18/2010 by Steve from Campmor
