bought this for my son who is a boy scout. The threads for the tightening ring striped before it ever dug any dirt. More trouble than it's worth to return.

It is a VERY cheap Chinese made copy of the military folding entrenching tool. It is loose when extended and can not stand up to real use, just digging, not even hard digging. It is cheap which is a plus, but spend the same money and get a used military issue one from a surplus store, it will last much longer.

I bought the tool for camping. Its not too heavy in my pack, but its really hard to open. Other than that, its great.

This shovel bends at the connection of the head of the shovel to the handle. Poorly made.

My son bought this so he could carry on his backpack while mountain biking. The first trip out the shovel bent in soft dirt. Funny enough, I expected it would be the handle, but it bent at the connection of the blade and the handle. To Campmor's great credit they replaced it immediately and I am hopeful it was a one time manufacturing flaw. I hope it is since the overall compact design is attractive.
