Comments about Liberty Mountain Sports 12" Aluminum Ultimate Tent Stake: These are tough stakes with great holding power that should hold up long after I'm gone. My concern is when I pound them in with my rubber mallet/stake puller combo tool, the stakes gouge the ruber mallet and will eventually ruin it. The edges on top aren't rounded so now I have to drag along an extra hammer. Otherwise it's a very good stake. If the top edge was smooth, it would merit five stars.

It takes a serious hammer to get them in to harder ground. Be sure to install a pull loop before use. It comes with the hole, but no loop. Otherwise you'll never get them out of hard ground. The shorter version is plenty for most tents.

Comments about Liberty Mountain Sports 12" Aluminum Ultimate Tent Stake: Great for staking out wind/sun shades in high wind or moderate wind in sandy soil. Won't bend. We also used them to tie off our rafts when no trees or rocks to tie off on - worked great. A little heavy but they are bomb proof - won't bend and have a hook for easy extraction.

While the item description states each weighs 2.3 oz, the three I tested on average weighed 3 oz. If you need stronger stakes than 6" or 7" stakes offer, yet still be lightweight compared to steel, these may be appropriate.
