Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 12 ft. Ultralight Backpacking Tarp: First use was during BSA survival training in heavy E TX downpour. Lightweight yet waterproof. Stayed dry all night. Ties on top are very useful. No condensation noted. Well made product and excellent versatile design - grommets well placed. Got to use all the knots...Syberian hitch, prusik, double half hitch, tautline, and alpine butterfly. Highly recommended.

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 12 ft. Ultralight Backpacking Tarp: I bought it to replace an aged and much heavier 10 x 12 tarp. The sewn in tie-outs will help immensely with pitching and should prolong its life.

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 12 ft. Ultralight Backpacking Tarp: I decided a year ago to shed packweight by using a tarp. Once I was convinced the tarp was the way to go, I decided to go lighter and bigger by buying this tarp. Fantastic! It covers a huge amount of ground, gives you alot of headroom, and weighs a pound. Just what the doctor ordered!

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 12 ft. Ultralight Backpacking Tarp: I have been camping with tarps for over 30 years and this tarp has replaced most of my other tarps. I have used it on several backpacking trips and it shows no signs of wear in spite of its light weight. It is light, easy to set up and very weather worthy. I particularly like the center line ties as they largely eliminate the need for a center pole. The light green color blends in nicely with camp, but lets thru a nice, filtered amount of light. It could use a few more grommets, but that is minor issue. I would like to see a 14' X 16' model suitable for larger groups.

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 12 ft. Ultralight Backpacking Tarp: Purchased this tarp for backpacking with groups of 8-12 people. When participating in extended treks, weight is a very important consideration and this tarp provides provides the proper balance in weight and functionality. It barely weighs over 1 lb and it's 10x12' dimension creates the idea dining fly for a large group. You do need to be careful with the fly since it's made of the same material as the ultra-light tents (ripstop nylon).... a strong material but not resilient to poking objects! Also, the tarp needs to be sealed (but not new for silicon impregnated nylon items).

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 12 ft. Ultralight Backpacking Tarp: The grommets are too far apart to try and pitch this tarp in a variety of configurations. I am currently sewing on loops between the grommets for more flexibility. Otherwise, it weighs 22 oz and I am excited to use it in CO.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 12 ft. Ultralight Backpacking Tarp: It pains me to write this as I like Equinox gear. I returned this tarp as the center seam was badly sewn. [...] the new one isn't so great. One of the corners is bunched up and central seam looks to be sewn by an amateur. Not willing [...] to return it as the tarp will function but seen better sewing in 5-10 dollar cheap poly tarps. I do like the new color and have nothing but good things to say about the Equinox 8x10 UL tarp purchased 5 years ago.

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 12 ft. Ultralight Backpacking Tarp: Six years ago my buddies and I decided to go ultralight. First thing to go was my 4-lb tent. I found this tarp at Campmor and I've used it on several backpack trips.

Comments about Equinox 10 ft. x 12 ft. Ultralight Backpacking Tarp: This is spendy, but worth it if you are trying to lighten your backpack.
