I question the degree of water resistance. Recommend gators if you are counting on some degree of dryness in wet weather. A good light weight boot for dry day hikes.

These are stiff and will require some breakin. Too narrow as well. I've never had a width problem but with anything other than a lightweight sock these are too tight.

Comments about Salomon Men's 3D Fastpacker Mid Gore-Tex Hiking Boot (#440378): The boot is a lightweight and waterproof boot and in those 2 aspects it seems to do well. What it does not do well is comfort. The design is such that when you walk, the boot will fold a bit (about an inch below the big toe on the ankle) and dig in. This is especially uncomfortable when climbing rocky inclines but becomes uncomfortable after a while of regular use. In addition to this terrible design, the traction is pretty poor. I've never had these issues with any Merell boot I've owned.

Comments about Salomon Men's 3D Fastpacker Mid Gore-Tex Hiking Boot (#440378): I bought these pricipally for hot weather hiking but have found I use them all the time, even around the city (which is kindof a waste of their grippy soles, I know). Really light, comfy, and pretty plain looking, which I like.
