I use these socks as house slippers in cool (50-degree, unheated)house, and as medium weight hiking socks. They work well in both roles. Good value for the dollar

Comments about Wigwam Merino Wool Comfort Hiker Socks:

I was unsure of the size fitting, so I got a med. and a large. Both will work for my 9.5 shoe size. The med. is snugger but not uncomfortably so. I could have just bought med. The large has more room at the toe for me but is not bulky inside my shoe boots. Good value, as the winter socks from a store here did not look good after one wash...and they cost more than the Wigwam socks!

Comments about Wigwam Merino Wool Comfort Hiker Socks:

My kids and I have been wearing Wigwam Comfort Hikers (both the Light and Regular versions) forever. When the kids were little, they didn't even own cotton socks, all they wore were these. (Then they became more fashion conscious-- but they still wear these in our chilly house in the winter and any time we're camping, hiking, cross country skiing, etc.) So far only two or three socks have gotten holes in them. Each of my two boys wears them, then they get handed down to my nephew in good condition. I can't remember ever throwing out a worn out pair of my own.

They're comfortable, fit well, warm, dry quickly, are made in the USA... and the price is less than comparable socks from a more trendy brand. I have bought other brands for myself on occasion but I never like them better than these. If you want comfortable, warm, durable and affordable (albeit not very fashionable) wool socks, buy these.

Comments about Wigwam Merino Wool Comfort Hiker Socks:

this sock has equal padding top and bottom (unlike many pricier socks). This means it can keep me warmer and protect top of foot when lower boot laces are tight for steep or fast downhills. Have worn Wigwam Comfort Hikers for many years and thousands of miles.

Comments about Wigwam Merino Wool Comfort Hiker Socks:

I just bought these socks (mid-weight version) and have used them once. I walked six miles round trip to the Appalachian Trail via a rocky side trail. My car thermometer said it was 25 degrees when I started and I hiked up to 2,600 feet. There was light wind on the couple ridges I walked and I was wearing standard three season, low quarter trail shoes (Patagonia A/C). There was an inch or two of snow on the trail and I was wearing low gaiters and Wigwam Thermax liner socks also. My feet stayed at a comfortable temperature and these socks were cushy feeling and stayed up. Back at the car my feet were dry, not sweaty when I changed for the drive back. I think I have found my new sock combination for cold weather (10 - 35 degrees?). I have been wearing thick, 85% wool socks for this type day. I'm switching.

This sock is considered a medium thickness sock. In fact, this is a sock that I wear often. Depending on the shoe, you might have to go up a 1/2 size. When buying shoes, I try them on with the socks that I would usually be wearing them with.
