Comments about Hi-Tec V-Lite Altitude Ultra Hiking Boot - Men's: I discovered this specific Hi-Tec boot a few years ago. I use them for everyday wear, local NJ-NY hiking, western backpacking, and for work around the house. I have been through around a dozen pair because of the constant wear. Really the only time I do not wear them is when dressier shoes are deemed appropriate. For casual social wear, they are actually very attractive when new and not used on the trail. I love them on all dimensions. They are comfortable. They are just an ounce heavier than the "light-weight" watershoes I use for canyoneering and nowhere near the weight of some other hiking boots. This is simply one terrific product for the price. I hope Hi-Tec never feels the need to replace or redesign this shoe "just because".

Comments about Hi-Tec V-Lite Altitude Ultra Hiking Boot - Men's: This is a followup to an earlier revies - now that I've gone through a winter with this boot. I've had H-Tec's for about 15 years - I get them for the fit and this boot is no excption very comfortable. The waterproofing isn't - this boot seems to have a thin veneere of some sort of waterproofing but that wears away very quickly and the boot is just as unwaterproof as any other leather boot - dissappointing. You'll need to use Nik or ?snow Seal just as you would any other non-waterproof boot - especially in the gussetted tongue area and across the ball of the foot where it flexes. the toe bumper has become slightly separated from the leather (poor bonding owing to veneer of 'waterproof material) and has created a pocket through which water leaks. this Ultra' boo is anything but. the Vibram is a very nice touch - and the boot works well in cold and dry environs and anywhere else where you won't get you boots wet.

Comments about Hi-Tec V-Lite Altitude Ultra Hiking Boot - Men's: HiTec fan for over 20 years - always fit just right and are very tough boots - they handle barbed wire, sharp rocks really well. Old soles were a bit slippery so I'm really glad to see this Vibram - a real selling point - haven't tested the waterproof yet - no rain in the Southwest for months. I'd really like to see HItec provide a locking lace system for good downhill control - it'd prevent toe jamming on steep descents

Comments about Hi-Tec V-Lite Altitude Ultra Hiking Boot - Men's: I'm a Park Ranger on the Oregon Coast and my Hi-Tec boots get me through some of the wettest weather in the country. Bring on the mud, sand, rocks, and uneven terrain and my boots pull me through comfortably and dry every time. The value and comfort I get from these affordable leather boots can't be beat.
