When I went true to size, it fit, but I think now I should have ordered the wide shoe. My advice: try it on someplace before ordering it to get a true size.

Comments about Merrell Moab Gore-Tex XCR Low Wide Hiking Shoe - Men's: I bought these for hiking in Vermont's "mountains" in the Fall and Spring when the trails are sometimes wet and muddy. Other reviewers suggested they run 1/2 size large, so i ordered 10.5 Wide and they fit me perfectly with Smart Wool hiking socks. (I'm normally an 11 EE). I wore them in the house for about 20 minutes and decided they were comfortable enough to take a chance, so I wore them on a 3.5 hour climb up Mount Mansfield. No blisters, no discomfort, dry and warm feet despite the wet conditions and 42 degrees. I stepped in a puddle that was over the top of the shoe and was amazed when no water came in through the top. Now I'm thinking I should buy a second pair for when these wear out...

This was the 6th pair of these I have purchased in the past three years. Never a problem before. This time I have blisters and toes banging into the front and side of the shoe.

Excellent and comfortable trail shoes, even in hot weather. They'll be my "go to" shoe for inclement weather and sketchy conditions.

Comments about Merrell Moab Gore-Tex XCR Low Wide Hiking Shoe - Men's: I've used these backpacking in the mountains with a 50 lb pack and for everyday use. Either way, they work great. I used to hike with an actual boot, but because of an equipment failure, I switched to these shoes. They worked beyond what I expected. Now that I've worn out the first pair I'm buying a second. I did end up extending the shoe life by buying an arch support.
