Comments about Platypus Hoser Hydration System 1.8 Short: I bought two, one for each side pocket of my pack a Kelty Red Cloud. The size was just perfect and purchasing two allowed me to balance my weight. During the day I can alternate between the bladders keep the weight even. The hose is plenty long and the bladders very durable. The short size fit my needs perfectly.

Comments about Platypus Hoser Hydration System 1.8 Short: This is the only hydration bag of this type and light weight I could find. The MSR equivalent is no linger available. I use this bag as a hydration system for canoe racing. It works very good. The filling port could be a little bigger. That's my only complaint. The Hoser is available in several sizes. The attached tube is easily replaced with a longer tube if needed. The bag has a large reinforced hole in the top for hanging up to dry or for tie in to a pack or insulated sheath to keep it somewhat vertical. The tube is removable with the screw-on cap for cleaning and filling. It's a very flexible and simple system.

Comments about Platypus Hoser Hydration System 1.8 Short: We bought this to replace an older plastic tasting insulated unit and this hit the mark! The unit is extremely lightweight and relativiely easy to fill (we only use water). There is no taste added to the water and the flow through the bite valve is considerable with very little pressure. Our packs do not have a sleeve for a hydration bladder, but the 1.8L short lays right across the top. Works very well.

Comments about Platypus Hoser Hydration System 1.8 Short: Bought it to use with my existing Kelty which has a pocket the perfect size for this product. Seems tough enough to survive in this application. Bite valve works well and I did not detect off flavors in the water. Filler opening is a bit small but I have not had any problem thus far.

Comments about Platypus Hoser Hydration System 1.8 Short: This reservoir fits into most packs, is NOT affected by extreme temperatures, and is very durable. Best of all, it won't flavor the the water.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about Platypus Hoser Hydration System 1.8 Short: I bought this to replace the bladder in my Platypus Kayak Hydrator. It is a good fit. But one major difference is that this bladder I purchased does not open at the top. It only unscrews where the tube enters the bladder. So how does one air out the bladder after using it? That is what I would like to know. My old bladder unzipped at the top. I would then put it on my rudder to air it out once I got home. No such luxury with this device.
