Q:
If I store way points while hiking and swap batteries mid-way through the trip, will the data automatically be erased or will I still have my way points stored? How long until satellite acquisition?

  If you remove the batteries your way points will not be saved. Garmin Etrex will save your way points.

1- Is this product ideal for hunting in the mountains?
2- Will I need to purchase anything in addition to the product?

  1. As in all GPS receivers a good ski profile will add in more accurate navigation. If you are in dense vegetation then the signal will be degraded and the accuracy will decrease.
  2. Nothing other than some AAA batteries

Is this GPS Macintosh compatible? I believe that the USB cable for inputing data into a computer is only for PC's, but correct me if I am wrong.
