We would not recommend a heavily loaded pack with these boots for a 4-5 day backpacking trip.

  • Q:

I have trouble finding a boot for my (German) feet. My last boots were Zamberlan. I like them, but they are very heavy. I also need room for my inserts since I have very high arches that make boots tricky. I also have a lighter pair of Lowa's but don't like walking in them for hikes. Are Danner boots a good fit for me?

      A:

According to our footwear dept., these boots run "small". Their suggestion is to go up a 1/2 size. It has a normal arch. With any footwear, you would only know if they fit by trying them on.

  • Q:

Do these boots and the low trail model generally fit true to size?
Asked on 10/16/2012 by Cin from Colmar, PA

    • A:

I wear a size six and I bought a size seven because I needed a "way too big" boot for riding. Much too my disappointment, they were SMALLER than my size six shoes!

      A:

If you are going to use these as a hiking boot, size up a 1/2 size to accommodate a cushioned sock and allow for the swelling of feet on longer hikes.

  • Q:

Do they run wide or narrow?

    • A:

I disagree. I found these shoes to be very narrow. I sure wish they made them in wide, as they are a nice boot! I ordered a full size bigger than I wear and they were still way too narrow.

Do the Danner Zigzag Trail GTX Womens Hiking Boot run true to size??? Thank you for your reply.

  • Q:

    1. Does this boot have a removable insole? I need to wear custom orthotics.
    2. Do they run true to size? I wear a B but need to be sure of enough room for the outside of my little toe as I am subject to bunionettes if a shoe does not have enough width there.

    Thank you!

      A:

The Danner Zigzag Trail GTX Womens Hiking Boot has remove able insoles so they can be replaced with your orthotic.
These are a true B with and have good room in the toe box. If you are going to use with a cushioned sock and as a hiking and backpacking boot, I would or 1/2 size up to accommodate the slight swelling of feet when exercising.

  • Q:

I have moderate to severe pronation and always wear prescription orthotics. Do these boots have room inside for orthotics, and are they supprotive enough for my pronation?

The Danner Zigzag Trail GTX Womens Hiking Boot are a high volume boot so there will be plenty of room for your orthothic. The boot is very supportive as well.
