Comments about Outdoor Products Trailhead Framepack 8.0 External Frame Pack: My son just became a Boy Scout and needed a pack. This is an excellent beginner to intermediate pack and you absolutely cannot beat the price. I will be doing all of my Scout shopping exclusively at campmor.com. the prices and the selection are unmatched.

Comments about Outdoor Products Trailhead Framepack 8.0 External Frame Pack: I bought this because it was on sale and I needed another backpack for when the kids and I go hiking. The product looks different (and much better) than the photo. There is a large rain cover with pockets and bungee restraints that the picture doesnt show. There is plenty of room for a sleeping bag and other gear. I really didnt expect much given the price, but I'm really pleased. It would be a good pack even at normal price. I can't comment on the durability yet, and I would expect that if you really want to use this hard for many years then maybe spend more. But for a casual weekend camp pack this would be a good choice. The adjustability also looks pretty good but out of the box it looks like its set up for taller people so I don't expect to be adjusting it much.

The specifications list an internal hydration pouch but the pack does not contain the pouch. I tried to exchange the pack for a replacement that provided the specifications that came with what I purchased. The local store where I purchased the pack did not have any that had the pouch although all had it listed.1 answer
A:
We do not list this item as having an internal hydration pouch. It is not hydration ready.Q:
I know this pack can hold a sleeping bag at the botteom, but how about a ground pad (for the sleeping bag)?2 answers
A:
The pad can be attached with the sleeping bag at the bottom or if too bulky, then it would have to go inside the bag.A:
You could also roll up the pad and lash it on underneath the main bag.Q:
My son has a 26 inch waist. Will the hip belt fit that small?1 answer
A:
This pack will only accomodate a 28 inch waist and larger.Q:
Can this hold a sleeping bag?2 answers
A:
I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes, but there are sleeping bag systems that you can compress small enough that you can fit in this bag and still accommodate yourself with 5-7 days worth of food, clothes and equipment. You just need to look. The ones that I am referring to are typically issued by the army.A:
Yes, it can hold a sleeping bag. The bag should be attached on the outside, preferably on the bottom.Q:
What is the difference between this pack and the older Firefly? Also what kind of fabric is this pack constructed of?1 answer
A:
No fundamental difference beyond the change of the model names. The material is made out of rip-stop nylon.Q:
Are theses back packs water proof?1 answer
A:
No, they are not waterproof. The material is water resistant but will get saturated in a heavy rain. Youwould have to use a waterproof rain cover to completely keep it dry.| Size | 29 in. x 14 in. x 9 in. |
