Cons Best Uses Comments about Asolo Men's TPS 520 GTX Waterproof Backpacking Boot: I bought these to replace a pair of 20 year-old Fabiano/Scarpa Trionic boots that I paid $275 for in 1992. I loved these boots but finally wore them out. Many people recommended the Asolo TPS520 and I read all reviews possible. Since I am now 65 and was looking for boots that would survive what trail years I have left I decided to pay a little extra over other choices and get these. They fit well and were broken it on short hikes before setting out on a 50 miler. They were great and I recommend to all ages. Buy the best and they will last longer. This is the last pair I will ever have to buy before I hang up my boots forever. Comfort, surefootedness, dryness and durability. Clean them well and condition them after every trek and they will serve you well.

Comments about Asolo Men's TPS 520 GTX Waterproof Backpacking Boot: This is my first pair of 520's. I've had several pairs of 535 - I do a lot of hiking. These boots are good, but the 535 boots are a lot more comfortable right out of the box. These may take some break-in and/or these may only be used for cold snowy wet trips.

Comments about Asolo Men's TPS 520 GTX Waterproof Backpacking Boot: [...] Just in time for an 8 mile hike in the snow. The fit was great, comfortable, warm, great traction in packed snow and amazingly no hotspot or blisters for the first time used.

Q:
I have had two pair of hiking boots over the past 22 years before my purchase of Asolo TPS 520 GTX. The Asolo boot is very stiff in the sole and does not provide much cushioning. As a result my feet are very sore on the entire bottom of my foot. This has not happened with my other boots. What inserts are good for these boots for 6 day backpacking treks?1 answer
A:
I would use super feet.Q:
What is the difference between the category "backpacking" boots and "hiking" boots?1 answer
A:
Backpacking boots assume you are carrying a load. A backpacking will be heavier and give better ankle support.
