Comments about Asolo Mens FSN 95 GTX Lightweight Hiking Boots - Medium Width:

I broke it-in in Miami for 3 week, I noticed the sole was getting a bit to low in that short time. but I figured it was because, I was doing all my walking in a solid surface and it was all good, until I took it to hick El Camino de Santiago the French Way. The boot did very poorly in the snow and ripped in the middle at the in the 127 k. mark. not something that I recommend to rely on. specially for long hicks.

This is my third pair. Perfect fit for me with almost no break-in. They do wear quickly if worn on pavment - which I do almost every day.

Decent boot at the right price

Comments about Asolo Mens FSN 95 GTX Lightweight Hiking Boots - Medium Width:

If the FSN95 fits, buy it.

I have narrow'ish feet. The FSN 95 fits me reasonably well. Better than many other boots.

Break-in time was minimal. They've held up reasonably well (more in a second). And they provide decent support without being overly heavy.

I liked them enough that I bought a second pair so that I could wear one while the other was airing out.

      On the negative side...

The FSN95, or at least the ones I own, do not grip wet rock particularly well. They're great in dry conditions. But performance drops off quickly in wet conditions. In this regard, they may be the worst boots I've ever owned. But then... I avoid hiking when rocks are wet, so it's not a deal breaker for me.

This could be a common factor for mixed fabric an d leather boots, but... there is WAY too much stitching on the FSN95. Stiching is always a potential weak point in a boot, and, in the FSN95, the stitches blew out on both boots in the first pair I own right at the flex point (apx ball of the foot) on both sides of the boot. I did some minor repairs and then used Seam-Seal to protect the repaired stitches as well as a few cm before and after the flex point; they've been fine since.

In spite of the above "issues", the FSN 95 is my "go to" boot for most hiking.

Or rather... the FIRST pair of FSN95s is my "go to" boot.

The second pair is supposedly the same size and width as the first pair, but the fit is somewhat different; pair #2 is longer and wider than pair #1. Consequently they do not get used for long hikes... more for trail work parties and short outing.

I've experienced no problem with the gortex / water-proof membrain. I've worn the FSN95 slogging through streams and in full-on rain storms without leakage issues. Likewise... I experienced no leakage while standing in gooey calf-deep mud (with gaiters of course) during trail projects.

So... overall, a decent enough boot - if they fit. The biggest negative in my experience has been the tendency of the sole to "skate" on wet rock

I used the boot for hiking and climbing haystack in wet conditions. The boot is good for hiking, but the sole does not last long. My boots and the my coworker's boots lost the sole after crossing streams, and slide too much on wet rocks.

I'm on my 3rd pair, great boot for hiking, backpacking or every day use. Good fit with no break in but the goretex is useless all 3 pair leaked aroun the soles within a week or two. I would have returned them but I don't have time for it between hikes 3rd times a charm. Might as well purchase the FSN 85.

Comments about Asolo Mens FSN 95 GTX Lightweight Hiking Boots - Medium Width:

I take a lot of day hikes and do several AT backpacking trips each year and was looking for a good year round boot for upstate NY weather conditions. I have a wide foot so I ordered the wide size which was great. I normally wear a size 11, but went with the 11.5 so I could fit heavier socks. These fit perfectly after a very short break in period. They are slightly heavy and a little stiff, I don't mind thought becuase they sure give you a feeling of support and stability.

Read some negative comments regarding the traction. I have not had that problem, but if you wear these for work on paved or concrete surfaces, I would imagine the soles will get worn sooner.

I like the fact that these are about the only boots not made in China (they are made in Romania). I wish there were more options for made in USA boots, but the Danners did not impress.

I also have very high arches and used to need Othodic inserts. I have been wearing these boots without any inserts and so far, no problems with the Plantars Facaitis.

I'm very cirictal of anything I spend my money on, so a 4 star from me is probably someone elses "5".

After trekking for two months in the Israeli desert (the shoes where new when i started), the stitches where almost all worn, the soles where almost gone and one of them had a hole in it. I didn't have any weight on my back the hole time. I had to discontinue the use since the grip was poor. Very disappointing and not worth the money.

These boots have taken anything I have thrown at them. I have owned them for over a year and a half and have put them through a wide variety of conditions. They have kept my feet warm and dry in the rainy redwoods and are comfortable enough for everyday use. I used them when I worked as a wilderness ranger in the High Sierra and they have carried a 60 pound pack with ease. The boots now have over 600 miles on them and are still preforming great in the beautiful high deserts of Nevada. These have been on glaciers, sand, mud and everything in-between and still have some good miles in them. I don't know if I'll ever buy another boot.

Great boots, great fit! Have had a pair of these for years (or nearly identical). Put many miles on - they hold up well, and my feet are always happy. Found them a bit too warm in Florida, but they do great in the cold and snow (with gaiters).

I've had my pair for about 2 years now. They are the best hiking boots i've ever worn. I've worn Vasque, Danner, Merrell etc. but Asolo are the best out of all for everyday to long hikes. They are actually pretty warm down to the freezing point, have'nt tried them in sub-freezing weather here in Ga. Thinking about buying a second pair in case they are discontinued for a newer line.

I want to purchase a boot for everyday use and so again do these boots fit true to size? You didn't answer the man’s question!
I'd like to not wear two pair of socks when I wear these boots.
I have a bad ankle (broke my foot completely off playing BB 30yrs ago)and need the support of a high boot.
I have Vasque boots for hiking, need a boot for outdoor daily work that'll protect my ankle.
