Welt-Seal is a unique adhesive, developed to solve special problems in the welts, stitching and seams of outdoor footwear.ng off. It is used by miners to protect the stitch fiber and the holes from the abrasive effects of minerals. It is resistant to almost everything, including acids, fuels, corrosives, and abrasives. It is a terrific adhesive and seam sealer where long-term flexibility is required. Can also repair inflatables, tent seams, rain gear, wet suits, rubber boots, and more!

Product wasn't easy to use. Also, peeled off after a couple of days. Probably should only apply to brand new boots AFTER factory conditioners are cleaned off. Seems like a good idea though. I will try product again.

Some tips

I'll start out by saying that although I've applied Welt Seal to my boots, I haven't taken them hiking in wet conditions yet. This stuff has been around forever so I assume it still effectively waterproofs seams. The stuff is tenacious and seems to bind strongly to the leather and welts.

A note about application: In general, read the directions and do what they say.
Specifically:
-Use multiple, thin coats. Give it a half hour at least in between coats.
-Hold the tube straight up and down, not at an angle.
-Use as little as possible each time you apply it, DON'T squeeze the tube much, if at all.
-You can move the tip back and forth to spread the stuff, but DON'T lift it off of the welt until you're done with that coat. It's very stringy and will get everywhere.
