Comments about Appy Trails Mark V 4-5 Person Tent: use in snow ,rain shelter for lunch. fast setup, put up in snow needs longer stakes also put paracord thru tie down eyelets. Two people getting out of weather great to cook hot drink soup. Light weight, I use tuna can under tent pole works good on snow, tarp, floor ect. price size and ease of setup. don't forget fast setup in rain and snow .last but not least you don't have to seam seal. Forget 4-5 people that ain't happening unless super survival situation.

Comments about Appy Trails Mark V 4-5 Person Tent: Used this past week on 18 mile back pack trip in Rio Grand National Forest. It shed raid well. Held up in mild wind. It did collect condensation on the inside quite a bit. We had 3 men in it and had room in the vestibule portion for boots etc. Definitely not a 5 man tent. It was hard to keep the two outer sleeping bags from touching the walls and soaking up the condensation.

Comments about Appy Trails Mark V 4-5 Person Tent: I am a Boy Scout leader and try to set the example of using light weight gear that works well. I am extremely pleased with this tent design. I changed out the guy lines with neon orange paracord for strength and better visibility. I also added 4 in. bobble bungies to all the grommets to prevent tearing out in harsh winds. I expext many years of camping comfort with my appy Trails V

Comments about Appy Trails Mark V 4-5 Person Tent: After carrying a heavier backpacking tent for years, I love the Mark V! The decrease in pack weight is so worth it. I have used it for three years without any issues. When the forecast is clear, it is great to pitch it a few feet off the ground and enjoy a warm breeze -- just tie off the top to a convenient tree branch and use some twine or parachute cord to stake out the corners. Thanks, AppyTrails for lightening my load by 10%!

Comments about Appy Trails Mark V 4-5 Person Tent: After about 45 years of preferring my army poncho over any tent I've found, this is a product that is better than a poncho hooch.

Comments about Appy Trails Mark V 4-5 Person Tent: I have a different tent than does bushpilot. Mine has 8 grommets, six of which are reinforced by the seams of the tent with multi-layers of fabric to support them, plus a tab. The other two only pin the tent to the ground and help in the wind. Even these two are reinforced with both a tab and an adhesive support. My stakes are aluminum backpacking type. I can buy longer and lighter that fit the grommets, but these work well in most soils. I've had mine out in really rough stuff, and have yet to have a problem. In really sandy soil I double stake any loose point. I pin it tightly to the ground to keep out cold wind or bugs. Works for me!

Comments about Appy Trails Mark V 4-5 Person Tent: It's a bit snug for anything more than 3 people as the sides tend to intrude into foot space.

Comments about Appy Trails Mark V 4-5 Person Tent: An innovative design with poor manufacturing. Grommets are not double-sewn and tear out easily. Rather than doubling up the fabric where the grommets attach they just add a piece of adhesive fabric which does very little to strengthen the connection. The grommets are also too small to accept any but the smallest tent stakes. The stakes provided are the cheapest steel stakes which will not work in loose or sandy soil. Perhaps that's a safety feature, as the grommets tear out if the shelter catches much wind. With better manufacturing this could be a very good shelter, but as it is currently manufactured it's a waste of money.

Comments about Appy Trails Mark V 4-5 Person Tent: I bought this to use as an emergency shelter when kayaking. Packs small enough to stow into the odd corners of my kayak yet could shelter 4. It's an option that could keep me from feeling that I have to make a passage in real tough conditions.

Comments about Appy Trails Mark V 4-5 Person Tent: Set this tent up in the dark, in two inches of snow, with horrendous winds, for the first time. We didn't get it taught enough, but it withstood the night with another 1-2 inches of snow. Next night we did a better job of setting it up. Great experience, large, and roomy. Super light weight, super price. Company has a great story. I carry it as my emergency shelter. I usually won't set up a tent unless I really need one. This option weighs less than my tarp and provides better protection. COMPLAINT: My only complaint is the "advertised" weight doesn't include the poles and stakes. That addes nearly another pound. They are optional, but adds some risk if you don't take them. My last warning is that it has a BIG footprint. Any tent that will sleep 5 is going to have a big footprint. I'd give this product my highest recommendation for it's intended purpose.
