Comments about Appy Trails Mark III 2-3 Person Tent: Used this for the first time backpacking with our Boy Scout troop last weekend in Big Sur. Used it with Tyvek ground cloth for two nights. Performed excellently. I will enjoy using this tent on several upcoming backpacking trips in the coming months, to include 12 nights at Philmont, NM in July. Great ultralight tent at a reasonable price!

Comments about Appy Trails Mark III 2-3 Person Tent: Great Product

Best Uses Comments about Appy Trails Mark III 2-3 Person Tent: Purchased this to use bikepacking & backpacking since you can pitch with the included poles (bikepacking) or with trekking poles (backpacking). Unfortunantly, I had to return it due to 3 grommets starting to pull out of the fabric after 2 nights of use and the lesser issue of stress risers in the fabric when setup. Also didn't like the fact that you have to stake it to the ground, thus preventing cross circulation and contributing to condensation build up even with the door open.

Comments about Appy Trails Mark III 2-3 Person Tent: I wanted to like this tent. It's very light and easy to set up. It held water out very well in a significant thunderstorm. However, after the first two nights of use in the Smokies, the grommets began detaching from the fabric. This feature of the tent is underdesigned.

Comments about Appy Trails Mark III 2-3 Person Tent: After handing off my Mark V--bigger than I need, I immediately bought the Mark III. After about 45 years of preferring my army poncho over any tent I've found, this is a product that is better than a poncho hooch.

Comments about Appy Trails Mark III 2-3 Person Tent: I was surprised by the quality. I was expecting cheap and was taken back by the poles and fabric.

Comments about Appy Trails Mark III 2-3 Person Tent: I used this tent on the AT in August. It was easy to setup and was sturdy in high winds. In rain it was fine, but you need a large enough ground tarp. The weight is great for backpacking. There isn't a bug screen, so don't expect one.

Comments about Appy Trails Mark III 2-3 Person Tent: Used for Camping trip

Comments about Appy Trails Mark III 2-3 Person Tent: Just got back from a 3 night trip in the Wyoming Wind River Mountains. High winds were almost constant. The tent held up really well. Sides flapped a lot, because I did not ever seem to be able to get them tight. Also, had a lot of debris blow in under the edges. All in all, however, the tent is a great deal if you are looking at something super lightweight and compact. For a solo, it has tons of room in it. Don't try it with two people unless you want to be real close.

Q:
The material that says is a muted green color, but it looks Aqua, is that the color aquamarine?1 answer
A:
We have changed the color on line. The current color is a true representation of the tent color now.Q:
what footprint should be used with this i don't want to use a bivy but want to stay dry1 answer
A:
I would use the Solo Tyvek Ground Cloth 2.5 ft. X 7 ft.Q:
Is the stated weight of the tent at 1 LB 8 Oz include the poles and stakes?1 answer
A:
The weight includes poles and stakesQ:
How does it handle with condensation/how is the ventilation?1 answer
A:
This is a specialty light weight shelter without a floor. There is little ventilation. In very high dew points condensation build up will happen.Q:
how many stakes are included, and type(material) of stake1 answer
A:
The Appy Trails Mark III 2-3 Person Tent comes with 9 aluminum stakes.Q:
How does this handle rain? What is the lowest temperature this tent can handle?1 answer
A:
The coating on the material is 1000 mm which is a good coating for a fly like this. As for the ground you may want to sleep in a bivy to prevent soaked ground from wetting your pad and sleeping bag.Q:
it shows the door open. Are you able to fully close the door, does if zip closed?2 answers
A:
Yes the door can fully close and zip shut.A:
yup, zips all the way down to ground, keeping it nice and tight.| CAPACITY | 2-3 |
