Worked great for that, so I tried them for running and they're super for that as well. I would prefer them to have a tad more coverage - but as they are they didn't ride up or chafe at all during a 6-mile run.

It is the only kind I ever wear - both everyday & on backcountry expeditions. It dries in no time and lasts MANY YEARS if line dried. I've joked that I know it's time to do laundry when I'm out of "preferred underwear" - my ExOfficios - but that's not a good laundry gauge because I can hand wash a pair & line dry them in about an hour. Guess I'll have to find another motivator to do the rest of the laundry!

I bought these just for backpacking, and they are the best I've found: Lightweight, packable, comfortable, and NO bunching or riding up. I have both the nude color and the black: both great. As for size, I find that the Ex-Officio size chart is good. I'm a 29 waist, 39 hip, and I like roomy leg holes for hiking and climbing. I ordered both a Medium and a Large.
