The North Face Mercurial Liner Bag is a lightweight, reversible sleeping bag featuring an innovative new baffle technology that enables temperature regulation through retention or loss of heat (depending on how you use it). Use baffle-side out in warmer conditions, as baffles flex away from body; creating pockets where heat can escape. Sleep smooth-side out when it's cold as baffles flex toward your body; assisting with heat retention. Unzips and lays flat for blanket use.

  • Three temperature configurations for wide range of uses
  • Stuffsack inverts to use as pillow
  • Travel friendly packed size
  • Ultralight trims including mini drawcord and #5 YKK° zip

I used this bag on a 5 day hike through southern VT on the AT in September. I am a hammock hanger. This bag was perfect. I was comfortable every night that I was out.

I'm buying another one for my wife.

Does it come with a stuff sack? If not, what size stuff sack do you recommend?
            Asked on 1/15/2013 by Liz

            2 answers

            • A:

              Yes,
the stuff sack is lined (on one side) with a soft fleece, so if you turn it inside-out, then fill it with extra cloths/sweater/etc, it doubles as a pillow!
Which is awesome, no more stuffing a stuff sack then wrapping it in a towel or T-shirt to use as a pillow.
Once again tNF proves its self as a superior product/company.

          • Q:

How WIDE is this bag really?
How WIDE is it in the hips?
It appears farily wide. Maybe 34 to 36 inches in the hip area.
It came up in my search for WIDE bags.
It lists its dimensions as 78 in. x 22 in.
Maybe the 22 inches is the width at the feet?
I'm looking for a lightweight bag that is wide in the hips because I like to hike one leg up at 90 degrees.
            Thank you!

              I'm 5'9", and have a stalky build @ 220lbs.
-this bag falls between a mummy and a standard barrel type sleeping bag.
ei: More room then a mummy bag, but not as much as a standard barrel bag. it tapers slightly towards your feet(but there is wiggle room), wide through the shoulders(just enough for my size to squirm around and still enough to keep in the heat) then tapers a bit at the top. I don't like mummy bags unless iim in extremely cold conditions, this bag is comfortable!

The dimensions on the specs tab are incorrect:
Correct dimensions: 30" wide at the shoulders and hips and 78" long.

The North Face Mercurial Liner Bag Regular is not rated by North Face. Best estimate is that this is a 60 degree rated bag. Strictly a summer bag.
