How do we clean our Marmot Lithium sleeping bags?

- A:
  We suggest washing the bag in a front loading (non-agitator), heavy duty, commercial washer. Use a mild detergent. We suggest using ?? to ?? as much detergent as instructed on the container, depending on how soiled the bag is. Do not use bleach. Use cool or cold water setting, delicate or gentle cycle. For best results, run the bag through one or two extra rinse cycles without detergent. Remove from washer carefully in a bundle. Dry in a commercial dryer at low heat or AIR setting (must be less than 125??F). Excessive heat will damage fabric and insulation. Remove promptly and lay flat until cool. The bag may also be line dried after being sufficiently spin dried to remove most of the water.

Q:
I used this bag on a 3 day backpacking trip. It rained the second night and the condensation inside the tent descended on our bags. My lithium bag wasn't wet inside but only on the outside. In the morning, I dried it out and fluffed it by hand and continued on our backpacking trip. This bag didn't hold up. The loft went totally flat and I spent the remaining nights cold. My husband's bag (also a down bag), much less expensive than my new Lithium bag, held up fine with no problems. I brought the bag to the dealer when we returned and he also noted that the loft was flat. I've owned Marmot items before and never had a problem. Most people who have reviewed this bag have nothing but good to say about it making me wonder if my bag was an isolated incident. Have you had this problem with the Marmot Lithium bag before?

  No, this is an excellent quality bag, but any down bag, once it gets wet ,will lose its loft and therefore lose its warmth. Down must be kept dry in order to maintain its warmth.
