Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots - Men's:

We hiked the Stampede trail in Alaska through mud, deep standing water, tundra, and snow and these boots were superior! Woke to rain and cold on the second day, after storing boots in the gear flap of the tent, they were near-dry. Walked a total of 50 plus miles over 4 days with a thirty-five pound pack and ten pounds of camera gear on various body locations. Best of all I got them three days before the hike; virtually no break-in period. Those who prefer venting for the water release will find the webbing on the top of the shoe next to the laces will allow water to exit. Partner them with a smart-wool sock and maybe a sock liner and your feet will be very comfortable.

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots - Men's:

This is my fourth pair of Keens. They are durable, reasonably priced, comfortable, and fit my feet. I have their steel toes which I use for work and they are the best I've owned. The Targhee twos are for hiking and daily wear after my Siskyous are showing some slight wear at the heel after two years of daily use.
I normally wear a size 9.5 and some people say to size up a half size but I didn't find it necessary.

GENERAL WEAR EASY HIKES IN THE WOODS. THIS IS THE THIRD PAIRI HAVE HAD AND LEARNED ON THE FIRST TO ADD SPLIT RINGS FOR THE LACE EYES, OTHERWISE YOU CUT THROUGH THE CANVAS QUICKLY. MAYBE IT IS BECAUSE I PUT THE LASES SNUG. BUT ONCE I ADDED THE SPLIT RINGS THE TREAD WEARS OFF BEFOR ANY ISSUES WITH THE LACES. AND YES I WILL BE GETTING A BACK UP

Comments about Keen Targhee II Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots - Men's:

It was a bit different than my other pair that I'd ordered earlier. This one had only one tie-down for the top laces, the old one had two. This one wore out in a couple of months. I wear my shoes a lot, but I'm not impressed with the insole or durabilty. Won't buy it again, but it's not CAMPMOR's fault.

                  Good comfort, support and weight.
However, these shoes have NO GRIP.
These shoes will loose traction on rocks.

Bought them for a trip to the BWCA this year - slipped and feel on "smooth" 4 times - on dry fairly clean rock - and once while portaging a 75lb canoe.

The Keen water shoes have better grip than these boots.

I was thinking about purchasing a pair of these boots for a hiking trip in South Dakota (40 miles/5 days). Pack weight will be around 40 pounds. Can this boot be used for this type of hiking/backpacking ? I tried on many pairs of boots, these fit the best by far.

I think that the Targhee will perform well on a hike like this. Especially if these feel the best. Good fitting boots are key to a good hike.

I have read many earlier reviews about this hiking boot and there seem to be a lot of issues with the sole coming unglued. Do you know if this issue has ever been resolved by Keen?

I remember this several years back. As a customer service manager I have to say that I have seen this issue tail off. The last couple of years I have not had to deal with delaminating soles as much on Keen foot wear.
