Comments about GSI Outdoors Halulite Minimalist One-Person Cookset:

I've owned this cookset for 3 years and have taken it on every backpacking trip. It's my go-to cookset except when I'm cooking for two. I use it to store a lighter, matches and a small titanium spork along with the potholder. GSI should include a titanium spork as the one that's included is not very useful. Water boils faster if I use a lid; I bring along a Boy Scout cookset lid. The potholder works well. It's one of my best backpacking purchases!!

Comments about GSI Outdoors Halulite Minimalist One-Person Cookset:

The spoon that comes with this pot is useless, but that still does not detract from the overall usefulness of this cookset. I fill it with water, boil and make 1 cup of drip coffee. I then put the pot in the cozy with the leftover water and place an open can of food in the pot and cover with the lid. In 5 minutes the food in the can is hot and clean up is minimal.

I have had this cook set for over a year now and it is my favorite piece of camping equipment. I don't cook out of it exclusively but I use it in addition to my larger cook set. I am also an avid hunter and I take this with me on every trip. It is extremely compact, lightweight, easy to use and clean. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoy's hiking, backpacking, or hunting.

The silcone gripper is useless as far as insulation from the heat and it does not magnetically stick to my MSR fuel bottle. The lid is very tight and difficult to remove without pulling the rubber gasket out of alignment. But the telescoping foon is kinda cool. I would probably be better served with the dual instead of the solo.

Sippy cup lid is a bit of a hassle to get off.

The lid will not melt unless you are not monitoring it over an extended period of time. You should remove the insulated cozy sleeve when cooking. The lid is composed of hard plastic.

Can this be used with a wing-tip type stove that uses pellets? I am looking for something I can I can use in a 72 hour emergency kit. If the wing-tip stove won't work, what would work with this set that could be used in this type of kit?

Yes, this could be used with that type of emergency stove, however you would have to remove the insulated sleeve prior to doing that.
