Does the 5/16 in. diameter refer to the fiberglass pole itself, or the metal ferrule on the end? Or does it refer to the hole inside the fiberglass tube where the shock cord is?
My tent poles are 23" segments with a 5/16" inside diameter hole in the tent pole. They measure 9/16" outside diameter. Hence my confusion.Asked on 3/27/2013 by backpacker from PA1 answer

5/16 is just 1/16" bigger in diameter than a 1/4". You are in a better position to determining if this will work. Are there any fittings that need to have a 1/4" pole only attach to the pole? If not then you can get this kit and replicate the pole sections that you would neeed to get the total length of the pole you need.Answered on 7/11/2011 by Steve from Campmor

As long as you have the brim rods you can measure them on the non metal end. If the diameter is 5/16" then this would work. You could piece in a pole section that would repair the broken one you have and use the shock cord to re shock cord the pole.Answered on 5/31/2011 by Steve from Campmor
