Eureka Timberline SQ Outfitter 6 - Tent

Item #: 28255

Our Price: $519.90

Green

The Timberline SQ Outfitter 6 tent from Eureka sleeps 6, has 2 doors and is a classic tent updated with the latest in frame technology. The Timberline series has been famous for years as the Scout's tent of choice, Why? Because of ease of set up, durability and reliability. Well Eureka just made it better with a stronger and easier to set up aluminum frame set. The frame is so tough that Eureka began to compare it to the strength and durability of the giant Sequoia tree and the name stuck (SQ). A stronger, thicker ridge pole and the SQ frame's spreader pole not only increase overall frame strength but adds more usable square footage to the interior of the tent. Improved ventilation with the addition of 2 generous roof vents mean long humid tent nights will be much more comfortable than in the past. In addition Eureka has lengthened the side of the fly for even more coverage and added vestibule wings to the front of the tent to protect the door from weather. Some of the good old parts remain like the use of RipStop materials for strength and worry free use. This is a classic tent and it just got better.
  • Sleeps 6 and has 2 large doors (with #10 zippers) for convenience

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ Outfitter 6 - Tent:

Purchased as replacement to 20 year old family camping dome tent with pocket poles. The Eureka SQ 6-man is much easer to set up and equally sturdy. Really like the SQ A-Frame design. Only dissappointment is that the opaque door flaps can't be openned partially at top and folded down for ventilation with screen. To get cross ventilation with screen, door flaps have to be fully open and tied back.

The instructions that came with the tent were for the old style SQ 6 tent. The parts did not match up. Had to go to the Internet to find proper instructions. Tent was easy to erect.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ Outfitter 6 - Tent:

The new tent-to-poles connectors at the top ends of the tent are very difficult to connect and put extremely heavy stress pull on the tent. The new design of the front and back windows no longer allows top down unzip to screen only so you can't look out a window as with earlier versions of the Timberline. Very dissappointing.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ Outfitter 6 - Tent:

We just used our tent for the first time..went up about like our old Timberline (replaced after 16 years). Night 1 rained hard from about 7pm all night until about 8:30am. Tent did great. Day 3-5 winds about 25 to 30 mph..also did great. The biggest reason we purchased a new tent was because we could not get a replacement rain fly for our old tent and because we are ageing and we needed more height. The only think I am not happy about this tent is the vestibule is only about 4ft high. I cannot believe that Eureka would make a tent 6 ft center height and a vestibule 4 ft high??? We are working out something to make it easy to get into the tent.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ Outfitter 6 - Tent:

We have used (two) Eureka Timberline 4 man tent for 30+ years and it was time to replace, so we decided to upgrade to an Outfitters edition per advise from a friend. We also upgraded to a six person SQ (sequoia). Used for the first time last weekend in heavy thunderstorms and this tent was roomy and dry. Loved being able to stand up, great zipper system, easy for two people to set up and put down. One item to note: requires at least one person to be on the taller side in order to reach the midsection to set up the cross pool of the tent (this is the pole that creates the wide of the headroom).

Had a 1984 version of this tent that I used for many years with my kids as we traveled around the country. That tent served us well. This tent is an improved model that I expect my grandchildren will spend many night in during their adventures.

Top quality throughout with a slight change in the poles from the earlier style. #10 zippers are heavy duty and constructed for years of service. Holds up well to wind and rain with external loops to secure the fly with additional lines. Heavy duty construction without heavy weight.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ Outfitter 6 - Tent:

I've been using the Timberline 6 tent for many years now with groups of students that travel out west. We currently own 7 of these. I'm not overly crazy about the design of the new fly, there's "extensions" that cover part of the doors, but I've found wind tends to catch there and keeping it down tends to be a slight problem. Overall though, we're extremely happy with the tent and it's never let us down in the most challenging of conditions.

Will the basic tent fit the old outfitter 6 frame and fly. No, I'm not crazy but really liked the tan color of the old fly- it was cooler inside. Purchased origional from Campmor in 88, and loved it , but alas the floor got totally sticky this year. Yes I will purchase the tent, fly, and frame.

Will this tent comfortably fit a family of 4 plus gear? Kids are small now but we want something we can grow into.

Are all zippers the same on the SQ 6(#10 door, #8 window) as on the Outfitter 6?

Also, is the SQ 6 just as easy to set up as the Outfitter 6?
