The Timberline SQ Outfitter 4 tent from Eureka sleeps 4 and is a classic tent updated with the latest in frame technology. The Timberline series has been famous for years as the Scout's tent of choice, Why? Because of ease of set up, durability and reliability. Well Eureka just made it better with a stronger and easier to set up aluminum frame set. The frame is so tough that Eureka began to compare it to the strength and durability of the giant Sequoia tree and the name stuck (SQ). A stronger, thicker ridge pole and the SQ frame's spreader pole not only increase overall frame strength but adds more usable square footage to the interior of the tent. Improved ventilation with the addition of 2 generous roof vents mean long humid tent nights will be much more comfortable than in the past. In addition Eureka has lengthened the side of the fly for even more coverage and added vestibule wings to the front of the tent to protect the door from weather. Some of the good old parts remain like the use of RipStop materials for strength and worry free use. This is a classic tent and it just got better.

  • Sleeps 4

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ Outfitter 4 Tent:

This is the fourth one of these the Boy Scout troop has purchased. It is not a backpacking tent but is very comfortable for three scouts and gear. We have purchased the foot print in order to extend the life of the floor. Scouts are hard on gear but these are holding up.

Roomy tent (I am 6-4) that was a breeze to set up alone. Rained at night but not a drop inside. Great tent used by many Boy Scout troops.

Not enough stakes to keep the tent floor flat on the ground. We sent it back at once... At MY expense.
My advice is that if you're purchasing something that might cost a lot to ship, then make sure of what you're buying because it's gonna cost you a lot to send it back.

Recived this tent today. I am 6 feet tall and put this tent up in about 25minutes myself. It feels very sturdy and the poles themselves appear and feel to be of exallent quality. Their are 3 bags for poles, steaks and tent materical with everything rolled inside. I am happy that all the bags are oversized so stuffing everything back in is a breeze. The only thing that may be a slight problem is the tub of the tent seems thin. I hope it is strong enough to stand up to normal camping conditions.

Have been using the Timberline 4 outfitter for 15 years. Very disappointed inthe new SQ design. It is not a 4 seaon outfitter tent. There are no spare parts and it is more difficult to set up. It is roomier and good for warm weather camping. Not good for scout tropps or outfitters.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ Outfitter 4 Tent:

There are several complaints about the difficulity of getting the spreader rod into the little pockets made for it. It is a darn snug fit but you need it that way. To help: get yourself a simple stamped out soup spoon (I got mine at the thrift shop) on the underside of the handle there should be a grove or trough, place the aluminum rod in the grove and the very end of the handle in the small pocket. Use it like a shoe horn and lever the rod into the pocket. After a few times being set up the fit will relax a bit.
I don't understand the folks who complain about poor construction. My tent is outstanding and nothing but quality.
Wait; in the intrest of honesty I must observe that the tent pegs are a joke, they have no place being included along with such a great tent.
About the number of persons that will fit in the tent: Two adults or at the max three.
I love my timberline and expect to be storing up happy memories with it for many years to come.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ Outfitter 4 Tent:

Everything about the tent is great, except for the fly design. The expansion bar that opens up the middle of the tent almost seems like it is too long. I can't even get both the pockets on the fly to fit over it for fear of tearing the fly. I need to call the manuf. and ask them to help solve this.

                      A:

The Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT Tent has a vestibule included.
Floor Material 75D Polyester Taffeta 1000mm coating
Fly Material 68D RipStop Polyester 1000mm coating
The Eureka Timberline Outfitter SQ 4XT does not include a vestibule
Floor Material 4 oz 210D Oxford Nylon 1500mm coating
Fly Material 68D RipStop Polyester 1500mm coating

To sum up the standard SQ 4XT comes with a vestibule. Has a lighter duty 75D Polyester Taffeta 1000mm coating while the Outfitter SQ 4XT does not include a vestibule but has a heavier duty Floor Material 4 oz 210D Oxford Nylon 1500mm coating. The 1500mm coating is greater than the 1000 mm on the standard SQ 4XT. Additionally the Outfitter has a bigger coil zipper which handles abuse better.

This tent should accomodate 2 cots. The tent does have an A frame shape so the center of the tent will be higher than the sides. The center height is 4' 9" high.

file 1/16th off each end of spreder bar this will allow for an easier fit in bar pockets an will not affect fit after the tent has relaxed from use
