The Timberline SQ 4XT tent from Eureka sleeps 4 and is a classic tent updated with the latest in frame technology. The 4XT adds a storage vestibule built right onto the front of the tent and a second door for convenience and improved ventilation. The Timberline series has been famous for years as the Scout's tent of choice, Why? Because of ease of set up, durability and reliability. Well Eureka just made it better with a stronger and easier to set up aluminum frame set. The frame is so tough that Eureka began to compare it to the strength and durability of the giant Sequoia tree and the name stuck (SQ). A stronger, thicker ridge pole and the SQ frame's spreader pole not only increase overall frame strength but adds more usable living space to the interior of the tent. Improved ventilation with the addition of 2 generous roof vents mean long humid tent nights will be much more comfortable than in the past. In addition Eureka has lengthened the side of the fly for even more coverage and added vestibule wings to the rear of the tent to protect the 2nd door from weather. Some of the good old parts remain like the use of RipStop materials on the fly for strength and worry free use. This is a classic tent and it just got better.

  • Sleeps 4
  • All main fly and floor seams are factory sealed with seam tape
  • Bathtub style floor wraps up the sides to keep you dry
  • Freestanding design is stable and easy to set up
  • Unique and proprietary Sequoia shockcorded aluminum frame is unmatched for stability and strength.
  • 2 Large end (door) windows are closable and 2 large roof vents (non-closable) for improved ventilation
  • 2 doors with Hi/Lo venting lets warm air flow out from the top while letting cool air in from the bottom
  • Full coverage fly protects the tent and occupants from inclement weather
  • Polyester RipStop fly is tough and durable and won't stretch when wet
  • Front storage vestibule is built right onto the fly for easy set up and excess/wet gear storage
  • Front vestibule is vented for even better air circulation
  • 4 interior storage pockets help with organization
  • All clip set up is fast and easy
  • Post and grommet pole to body connection is fast and simple
  • Lite-Set footprint optional - allows you to set up the fly with just the poles - leave the body home - lightweight option - Lite set weight 6 lbs 14 oz
  • Rear vestibule wings protect the rear door from weather
  • External guy points to keep the tent stable in storms and high winds
  • Special pole anodizing process used is GREENER (less polluting) than other aluminum poles
  • All carry sacks included
  • Fire retardant
  • Import.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT Tent:

I have an old 4 man Timberline that's over 20years old. This is a big improvement from the older models. The factory seam seal eliminates the yearly resealing. The heavier poles will help keep the frame from bending,BUT,if you even suspect it might get windy while using any A frame tent, make sure you use all of the guy out points. Those big flat sides can put a huge load on the frame, and the poles at the corners Will twist and bend if enough load is applied.Overall an excellent casual use tent, just leave it home during the winter!!

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT Tent:

Very durable, continuing the Eureka tradition.
Pros- Roomy, sturdy, waterproof, breathes well.

Cons- Heavy, can be a sail in strong winds.

Could be ok as a backpack tent or a base camp tent if the weight is split up and you're below timberline.

Comments about Eureka Timberline SQ 4XT Tent:

I was given a Eureka timberline when I was a youth in scouts. That 2 man version has lasted nearly 30yrs. This 4 man version is just as sturdy and lighter weight. With my two sons and myself, we had plenty of room. I like the upgrade/redesign of the built in vestibule and back door. Quality tent from a quality company!

Well the first cub scout event called for a new tent and this was the one I picked. Looked at several models and this one came with the best reviews. Went up fast in light wind (10-15 MPH gusts). Survived in and outs all day of 5-7 year olds and was good to sleep in in 38-40 degree weather with a little rain. No problems at all noted.

i have owned by original for over 30 years and i am just now looking to buy due to a zipper starting to fail. but it has been on many backpacking trips. week long in high country of colorado. has held up in rain, lightning storms (lower elevations then us), light snow, use by boys and adults, storm winds at above the timberline and etc. has been a great tent. little heavy but for price, it is a good tent. looking to buy my second one after 30 plus years.

Nice tent - I have used it once. I used the timberline as a scout and would have been super proud to have set up my SQ on a scouting event back them days. Now I just want to get out and use it. The stakes are crud and must be replaced.

recent timberline purchased as gift because I know how well made and sturdy it is. have owned a timberline for 10 years and camp on the outer banks of NC 5 times a year, other camping is with boy scouts. Tent has held up great through storms, kept me dry. UV rays finally affected material. Bought new rain fly and poles, we now use it as spare.

The tent floor is waterproof. It should not leak....always recommended to be used with a groundcloth. Reapplication of waterproof and seam sealing would be required after a year or two of heavy use.

                    A:

The SQ4XT is a 3.5 season tent so it will be good for cold conditions but not recommended for snow. A 4 season tent is made with a stronger frame to be able to hold up under the weight of snow fall.
