Used a Timberline on 3 Glacier Bay Trips, where it rains A LOT. Tent kept me dry without fail. Overhanging fly keeps rain out when door is open and facilitates ventilation.

Great for car-camping. Pretty good for Backpacking (heavy). Great for rain - absolutely waterproof with factory sealed seams. Internal frame gives superb wind resistance. With all this, its heaviness is acceptable.

I bought this tent years ago but quit using it for backpacking because of the weight. I did like it for car camping. I was camping in a campground a couple of weeks ago when a flash flood started picking this tent up with me in it. It held out mostly dry . We had to be rescued by boat and hated to see my tent was washed away after I got out. I will surely miss it.

Comments about Eureka Timberline 2 Tent:

Summer of 2013 will be the start for my third one of these tents. I bought my first one back in 1978 and it lasted until 1995 when a brown bear decided to put a running body block on it while I was fishing. Tent number two lasted until last year when the interior got pretty dirty from a rain storm. So i ran it thru the washing machine on gentle but it caused the coating on the bottom of the tent to start flaking off. I recoated the interior with a urethane product designed for that purpose but seams a bit sticky inside in damp weather so after another 18 years I willed that tent to my son and bought tent #3. If there is any thing to find fault with in this tent it is that it's on the heavier side and I believe Eureka has a 3 season model with the upper 2/3 in mesh to lighten it up. So if your not doing cold weather camping that modle might be your lighter backpacking choice to drop about 2 pounds or so. But for all around dependability you can not beat this tent. It's roomy enough for 2 people but not your packs. we always set our packs away from the tent under a tree with a poncho to cover tem and just take what we need into the tent but you can buy a vestibule designed for the tent if you want. If you picked the wrong spot to set up, the a-frame tent pole design makes it easy to do a quick location move without having to do a complete tear down. If it pours rain you're going to stay dry and wind has never been a problem in a big storm. I really like having the full height in the front and back and the sides are held out by clips from the rainfly to keep the interior roomy. So thats 2 tents, 18 years each, if I get 18 out of this one I'll be 80 and ready to pass it along to a grandchild. If you find a better tent ..................

                      I am the pilgrim.?
/ military survivalist. let me tell you something my fair weather friend. the EURIKA TIMBERLINE 2 MAN TENT , saved my life , kept me dry in horrid mountain storms and blizzard conditions..I did have to reseal the seams over time and many seasons, but i never got wet. i wore my old tent out after 20 years of hardcore off trail backpacking in every condition. oh ya, its not Bear proof. but the few bears i encountered at night didn't know that. If u want a vestibule, just buy an extra fly and rig one up.its a lot bigger than a builtin one. FRom the taconics to laffiette to Rangeley to Allagash, down to the lowell mountain range through the green mountains and back trout streams of newengland, Watch your top knot. the pilgrim. Back in Vermont.

I asked advice on a tent for my wife and I that we could stand up in and this is your reply:

For a tent that two people can stand up in, we would suggest the Eureka Timberline 2, http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___40324

Since this tent is only 3 ft. 2 inches tall I think you may have meant a different model. Please advise.

                        A:

Store it in a dry cool place. Put it away dry will lead to a long life for your tent. the materials are very similar to your old Timberline.

Does this tent come with a ground cloth , or is that an accessory? In the Cabela's catalog an ground cloth is offered as an add-on. Thanks, I will be waiting for your reply.

I've had a Eureka Timberline 2 tent for about 25 years. I use a clear shower curtain liner as a ground cloth. They are light, waterproof and cheap.

The ground cloth is an accessory. Refer to 5 ft. x 7 ft. Coated Nylon Tarp item # 22215.
