EZ up and big enough

By Buck Runs With Beer

from Albany, NY

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Bugs and water outside
  • Easy to set up
  • Quality material

Cons

    Best Uses

Comments about Eureka Hex Screen House:

The hex shape permitted us the room for the park picnic table and a few coolers. We enjoyed playing games at night using a lantern and the bugs stayed away. It was as easy to break down and pack away as it was to set it up.

Only two types of pole sets, and each is

      By RJ

      from CT

      Verified Buyer

Comments about Eureka Hex Screen House:

Only two types of pole sets, and within a set, the 5 poles are broken into two pieces but tied together with those internal bungee-strings, so they assemble easy.
It assembles as a whole, pretty easy. It gets a little floppy with one person doing the job, but it gets done.
We took it for one 5day trip, and the zipper worked fine, and it did the job

Shined in a grueling 11-day test.

      By Bruce

      from Tierra Verde, Florida

      Pros

      • Good price point
      • Ground-hugging skirt
      • No-seeum mesh
      • Roomy interior
      • Sturdy Construction

      Cons

      • Low entrance
      • Poles-rafters don't lock

      Best Uses

Comments about Eureka Hex Screen House:

I just returned from an eleven day field research trip to Florida's largest dry grass prairie, Kissimmee Prairie Preserve. We bought this screen house because of the stability and spaciousness promised by its 6-sided design. My previous screen house was 4-sided and did not perform well in the prairie's prevailing 10-15 mph winds with gusts to 25 or so. The Eureka screen house is rugged and roomy and it does everything a screen house should do. It withstood the prevailing winds as well as a thunderstorm that blew out some of our field equipment even without extra guys! We used it daily for meals and for a field laboratory. At night when we had bright lights on the no-seeum mesh and ground-hugging skirt prevented insects from invading the screen house and spoiling our work (ar our dinner.)
One-person setup was a little difficult because the poles don't lock into the rafters thereby allowing them to fall apart during when moving from one pole to another. Otherwise, setup is very straight forward.

We put it over a picnic table for bugs and rain. Under heavy rain it did produce indentations that needed to be emptied.

Comments about Eureka Hex Screen House:

The shape makes it feel roomy. We like the front and back zipper

We wish it had a rain fly option. The bottom skirt is not very tight to the ground.
