Comments about Eureka Copper River 30 Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag:

I took this up to the Sierras for a 3 night trip. Slept in mid 20s, but made sure I layered up. I was somewhat comfortable in the bag without a ground pad. I spent most of my money on other gear and this worked for what I could afford for a bag. I noticed people either sleep warm in reviews or really cold, but seldom do I see reviews sharing what clothes they wear in the bag! I had long johns, 3 pairs of socks, a light fleece and heavier fleece top layer and had to bundle myself pretty tight in this thing to keep my temp comfortable. Again I did not have a ground pad where I noticed most of the cold. Lesson learned. The bag didn't pack down to the size or shape I hoped, but maybe it could in a better compression sack? Probably 12 by 10in. Long story short I'm happy with the purchase, but I will probably replace this for my next trip if I can't compress it better in a different sack.

wanted a sleeping bag for my son rated from 30 degrees+. He is 5'8 and average build, but this was too tight of a fit for him. While the bag has some excellent features, he felt that it packed too large to be worth the tight squeeze at night.

Great Value! I just got back from a backpacking trip in Tennessee, and I was one of the few who managed to get some good sleep each night. We were under tarps, and the nights were cold and wet. This bag comes with a compression bag and packs down to a very reasonable size. I don't see myself needing another bag anytime soon.

Comments about Eureka Copper River 30 Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag:

I have yet to take this out. It is an inexpensive replacement for my 20 year old Kelty bag (which is still in good working order). Tonight though we have a winter storm warning here in the mountains of western North Carolina so I am sitting on my back porch wrapped up in this bag it is 25 degrees out and I am comfortable. I will be hiking to Clingmans Dome from Pisgah National Forest in late April. I have no hesitation taking this bag. Packs down small enough. Be gentle on the compression straps and they will last. Outer lining of bag seems a little thin/flimsy but with care not a problem. I have always used 20 degree bags and I can see this one handling the occasional unexpected cold night relatively well being a 30 degree bag. Will update this in the spring if it fails on me which I honestly don't see happening as I sit here in my tent in 25 degree weather on my back porch.

Comments about Eureka Copper River 30 Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag:

Bag is realatively warm, kept me comfy on a 36* night. Bag packs too large, and the compression sack is almost laughable, as it does not compress much once you get it in the stuff sack. Zipper snags fairly easy, but it is a quality bag for this price, so really not too many complaints.

I bought this bag after my Marmot got holes from wear. The Marmot was a zero bag so the 3o degree bag lets in a little more air. This bag is perfect for summer camping or day use. Ilive in an old barn so I will buy another zero bag for next winter. I think the fill will last the outer skin is not as thick as Marmot, but I can interchange with the temps here in the sheep station barn.

I use this bag for cross country hitchhiking and its been working great. It dries fairly quickly while it is unpacked. It is a very long sleeping bag, I'm 6 foot 2 and there's about an extra six inches of room at my feet. it's very comfortable and the temperature rating is accurate. for its size it packs pretty small and is pretty light.

It would not be the best choice. You should look for a bag that is lighter and more compactable.

                Cleaning Your Sleeping Bag:

DO NOT DRY CLEAN YOUR SLEEPING BAG. The manufacturers of our synthetic and down fills inform us that solvents and fumes used in cleaning may be retained in the insulation and if inhaled, could produce skin irritation, allergic reaction, or possibly serious physical injury.

                Machine Washing & Drying:

We suggest washing the bag in a front loading (non-agitator), heavy duty, commercial washer. Use a mild detergent. We suggest using ½ to ¼ as much detergent as instructed on the container, depending on how soiled the bag is. Do not use bleach. Use cool or cold water setting, delicate or gentle cycle. For best results, run the bag through one or two extra rinse cycles without detergent. Remove from washer carefully in a bundle. Dry in a commercial dryer at low heat or AIR setting (must be less than 125ºF). Excessive heat will damage fabric and insulation. Remove promptly and lay flat until cool. The bag may also be line dried after being sufficiently spin dried to remove most of the water.

                Hand Washing & Drying:

Place bag and mild detergent in a clean bathtub. Fill the tub enough to cover bag sufficiently with cool water and massage the detergent throughout the bag until thoroughly cleaned (be prepared to spend 12 to 15 minutes of massaging here). Lightly scrub the outside of the shell with a soft brush if there are any extra-heavily soiled areas. Drain the dirty water and gently press excess dirty water out of the bag. Do not wring the bag. Refill with clean water, massage again, kneading the clean water throughout. Drain, press out excess water and repeat if necessary until water runs clear. After final rinse, remove bag from tub carefully (if too much water is left in the bag, strain may be placed on the insulation?s stitching) and place on flat surface (floor or ground) on towels or old sheets to keep bag clean until it air dries. As bag begins to dry, turn occasionally, and when bag nears complete dryness, shake periodically to restore loft. With down, be certain to break up clumps or they will dry hard and be difficult to separate.
