Comments about Darn Tough Vermont ATC Merino Wool Hiking Socks Special Edition: I've used Smartwool and Wigwam, but I like these better. Medium thickness gives plenty of warmth and padding for long-distance hiking. I checked them out because they are made in the USA and part of the price goes to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. I like bargains and these are expensive, but I think they are worth the price.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Darn Tough Vermont ATC Merino Wool Hiking Socks Special Edition: I've only put ten miles on these socks, but they fell fabulous. I bought them because I'm planning a 500 mile trek at the end of the summer and haven't been satisified with other high-end socks.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Darn Tough Vermont ATC Merino Wool Hiking Socks Special Edition: I'm a building contractor and A.T. backpacker who spends most of my life outdoors, in boots, all year. These socks go the distance, providing great warmth, comfort and duability. Even after repeated washings, they retain their shape and hug my feet and ankles like support socks! Over the past 45 years, I've tried 'em all, and these are the best!

Comments about Darn Tough Vermont ATC Merino Wool Hiking Socks Special Edition: Hiking
Pros Cons
Best Uses Comments about Darn Tough Vermont ATC Merino Wool Hiking Socks Special Edition: I have an average 10 1/2 foot. Ordered the XL. They were so tight I could hardly get them on. In addition to extremely tight across the top of the arch the construction is such that with the foot at a right angle (standing) there's a bunch of wrinkles from too much material here, thus double constricting. Poor sizing and shape. Can't recommend.

A:
I make a practice of wearing a heavier sock like this and a liner sock next to the skin. Look at the Fox River X-Static Liner Socks
