Comments about Columbia Sportswear Heat Elite Omni-Heat Insulated Jacket - Women's: I live in WI and walk daily for exercise. Our weather conditions vary greatly and this jacket is perfect. Lightweight and warm it keeps the wind and snow out on cold days, while the vents under the arms are perfect when I get too warm on more mild days. I also wear this on weekends just running errands, etc.

Comments about Columbia Sportswear Heat Elite Omni-Heat Insulated Jacket - Women's: This jacket is warm enough for (this year's warm) January in Minnesota. It keeps me toasty on a daily 15 minute walk into campus in temperatures down into the single digits. It's also been quite comfortable in temps up through the 30's. It's not windproof, but since it's not at all bulky (like down can be), I can easily fit a raincoat on over the jacket as a shell on windy days. It's quite stylish, with a fitted cut, and fleece and other materials in appropriate places (i.e., non-fleece material under the arms, so I won't have to worry about pilling). I was hoping for a non-bulky, non-marshmallow jacket that would be warm enough for Minnesota, and that's exactly what I found. My only wishes are that it had a hood and that the pockets were located a little lower -- they're slightly awkwardly positioned, so that when I use them, my hands are almost on my ribs instead of being in the more natural position near my hips.

If you're wearing a lot of layers underneath it will feel snug, but you can always unzipper the armpit vents (or get rid of a layer because you don't need it with the jacket!). The thumb holes in the sleeves and the zipper protector at the chin are great bonuses. Pros
