This runs slightly on the small side so you would go with a large.

  • Q:

Is this a good southwest summer hiking jacket too?
If not, would you recommend another for wind and rain in a similar price range.

At altitude this is a good versatile choice, not so good for the summer in Phoenix though. The shell is a good rain shell and the liner would be good as a cooler weather piece.

  • Q:

I'm debating on which size to get, either small or medium. I'm 5' tall and other small coats/jackets/shirts I have tried on tend to be slightly tight in the chest and pit area, but sleeve length is great. So I tend to get medium, a little roomier but with slightly longer sleeves. Which size would you recommend?

This jacket runs slightly on the small size so if you are debating between two different sizes, I would go up to the medium.

  • Q:

I'm taking my mother, who is 79, petite in height, slim, on a tour of Italy in the early fall (i.e., mid 70's to low 50's, possibly some rain). Would the small size work, or would it be large? Is the shell insulated?
    Thanks!

      A:

The White Sierra Women's All Seasons 4 in 1 Jacket shell is not insulated. the zip in liner is the insulating piece on this jacket. You can use just the shell as a wind and rain jacket. You can use the liner as a sweater or you can use the liner zipped into the shell as an insulated jacket for colder weather.

  • Q:

I am looking at this jacket since it seems pretty versatile - can this jacket be used for running - like wearing the shell with layers of tech shirts? Is it breathable and waterproof for running in rain. Also the sizing - I like my jackets little bigger - I own a waterproof Northface jacket and it is Large - so is the sizing size smaller in which I should get the next size up?

White Sierra Women's All Seasons 4 in 1 Jacket is cut fuller than a North Face so a L will work well.
