      Comments about Esbit Alcohol Burner:

I purchased this alochol stove to be used as a back up burner in my ( wood burner ) Solo Stove when I can't get any wood for the Solo Stove or am just to lazy to gather a few sticks to use for cooking.
Just set it where the wood would be and light it to fix a meal. Then use the simmering ring to simmer anything that is cooking or close the simmering ring to put the flame out.
Remove the stove and if any alochol is left in it then put on the main lid and screw it down tight to stop any leaks , saving that alochol for later.
This way I have a camping stove which serves double duty.I like it when items for camping can do more then one thing.
Plus the little amount of alochol I have for the alochol stove can double as a fire starter in the Solo Stove. Just put a couple of drops of it on the wood and light it.
The alochol can also be used as a disenfectent for scratches or bug ( Tick ) bites.

I have the Trianga burner but the Esbit has a long handle on the simmering ring which will keep me from buring my fingers when using it or extigushing the flame. The Trianga does not have that extention on it , outherwise the two stoves are almost identical.

        Comments about Esbit Alcohol Burner:

I have to say this little alcohol stove is great.I have cheap DIY ones made from aluminum cans but this beats them Hands down. I especially like the built in lid...can actually keep alcohol in it when not in use...a plus.

Construction is excellent..I forsee having this for years to come.

And as for Campmor, what Can I say? They are my go to supplier...efficient, quick ship, great quality, awesome service and last but not least...very competitive.

You can buy gear at many stores out there..but Campmor gives the most for the least.

Used when I needed a second stove when cooking for small group (8), provided the extra heat that was needed without addiutional weight. Had to make a small stand out of aluminum which also acted as a wind screen. Light, inexpensive and well made. Great combination. Alcohol is easy to purchase.

                  Comments about Esbit Alcohol Burner:

This burner works as designed. I've read other reviews that stated that the gasket leaks alcohol on the esbit. I have found that if I tighten the cap well on the Esbit then it does not leak. I bought this to use in combination with a US Army canteen cup and cup stove. It makes a great system that all nests together. I purchased a slightly larger canteen bag with accessory pockets and I can store everything (including some spare fuel and silverware) in one place.

                  • Q:

Forgive my ignorance, but if the inexpensive grain alcohol, sold in drug stores burns in this container, would the same alcohol also burn in, say, a tin can? With this burner, it appears that one lid controls how much air the fuel gets, which, I'm guessing controls the amt. of burn and heat is generated. So, this burner is just placed under one of the stands, that a sm. pot can be placed on? How long do you think this container will burn for? The picture makes it look as if it's hold a very sm. amt. of alcohol. Thanks. jp

The burner holds 3 oz. Rough calculation is 1oz alcohol to boil 1 Liter of water. So you can boil 3 Liters of water on 1 full can.
